Just go to the preferred charge times on the app and hit the dot to change it from "use preferred charge settings" to "charge to 100% when plugged in" then when you get home just hit the dot to switch it back.
The tax credit for alternative fuel (EVSE) uses the tentative minimum tax value (part 2 line 9) from the 6251 alternative minimum tax form for qualification purposes. The 2 years I tried to claim it while also claiming the $7500 vehicle credit I never qualified for alternative fuel credit...
I did that just other day from my phone. Truck was in the garage, and it was plugged in. It was cold and snowy so to be safe and thought a full charge would be good. I hit "charge to 100%" and it did it.
I'm thinking even though you say its flat and no wind, there was some wind and it may be a net uphill going there and a net downhill going back. My commute looks relatively flat but going to work is downhill and going home is uphill. but you would not realize this by observing it.
