  1. Pickup my new Lightning Flash next week!

Congrates on the new truck!! - got mine a week ago, and all I do now is look for excusses to go drive it. Be Right Back...LOL
  2. Farley believes he knows how to beat the Chinese on EVs

I "wanted one" from the initial release date, but had to wait for the high prices and over MSRP thing to come and go. Now with so many sitting on the dealer's lots, there is finally a buyer's market. I was able to find lots of 2024's still on the dealer lots in January 2025...making it finally...
  3. CEO Farley: Ford is Going to 100% Online, Fixed-Price Sales For EVs

Interesting to read over this thread from 2022 - never happened, and now 'negotiated price' means paying far below MSRP - for now, at least - while it is a buyers' market.
  4. FordPass 5.13.0 for IOS

Doesn't work?? Really? I didn't know there was an existing problem, I have used it multiple times, had the truck only a week so far. Could there be a difference with firmware version or something?
  5. Farley believes he knows how to beat the Chinese on EVs

Awesome truck - will be driving this one for at least a decade.
  6. 34" tires on stock - THEY FIT

Interested - hope you post the net results for everyone here. I myself am interested in options for next winter, will run the factory set until next fall, then switch to a more suitable winter tire.
  7. Parking brake fail? Wet, not icy surface

Low tire pressure would Increase the contact area of rubber to surface. Could make sliding LESS likely. The weight of the truck doesn't change, lower tire pressure increases contact area, reduces contact pressure. The area x the contact pressure = the weight of the truck. Higher contact...
  8. Parking brake fail? Wet, not icy surface

Can the OP/Admins up-date the Thread Title - for accuracy.
  9. Battery Preconditioning.

I wonder about a portable battery - 'solar generator' like the bluetti or the ecoflow delta type of portable units. Say your parked for 8 hours per day and just want an L1 plug to maintain battery temperatures for you for that time. From what I have seen so far (Very limited experience so far...
  10. Battery Preconditioning.

Its not so much the weight of the battery as the surface area for the heat loss. With a heat pump 1kW of input can be 3kW of heating potential depending on conditions. I don't know the efficiency of the truck system, but my home Heat pump runs to -27 C (more efficient at - 15 though)
  11. Battery Preconditioning.

I just got in, from an hour drive at moderate speeds (not highway) and plugged in the L2 charger to the truck - this is held to a 24A current (to suit the other EV ) 240V. The truck is programmed to charge up the battery to 90% starting at 11:00 PM tonight, and the departure time is 7:20AM...
  12. Battery Preconditioning.

it is only as crazy as expecting to lift yourself up by pulling on your own boot laces...but if you plug into Pro-Power on a Lightning parked beside yours... :) LOL
  13. Battery Preconditioning.

Makes sense. and as you say, if it is cycling on and off, it must be reaching it's desired set point. For OP (@Iroc34a ) if you can find any 120-15A outlet at your work, you could maintain the battery temp with a L1 charger. In some places block heater plugs were common back in the day, but...
  14. Battery Preconditioning.

15A x 120 v = 1800W 1200 W is only 10Amp draw. 1000 W (ie 1kW) is 8.3 Amp x 120 v = 1,000W In any case, the truck right now is drawing "less than 1kW" per FordPass - waiting for the schedule charging at 11:00PM. maintaining battery temp (minus 18C at the moment) with less than 1200W is clearly...
  15. Battery Preconditioning.

If the battery is already warm from a trip, and you park and plug in a L1 cord, say while your at work for 8 hours, would it use the 1500-1800W available to maintain the battery temps to the 60F range until your next departure ?
  16. How responsive is the Ford Pass app on Lightnings?

Doing a search I got: "the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning has a built-in Wi-Fi connection through the "FordPass Connect" feature, which allows you to create a mobile hotspot using a 4G LTE connection to connect multiple devices to the internet within the vehicle; essentially, it utilizes a cellular...
  17. Battery Preconditioning.

Seems like a smart system - not a negative to me.
  18. Battery Preconditioning.

I have an energy monitor in the shop that monitors the EV charger, I notice that plugging in the Truck when I come home, the energy monitor indicates less than 1 kW going to the truck prior to the set charging time (11PM to 7AM) so just plugging in the truck, it's taking advantage of available...
  19. Got the Truck yesterday Newbie

I have solar and low cost ToU overnight at home, so a nice sunny day I get a "free" charge for the truck, but a cloudy day like today I charge overnight on the "Ultra low" (2.9Cents/kWh) rate which sure beats the heck out of the $140-$160 a week I used to spend at the pumps...I can see this...
  20. Battery conditioning, is it worth it?

It would depend on the weather where you live, and the cost of electricity. Prior to getting the Lightning, I remoted started my V8 RAM and let it run 15-20 minutes a day using gasoline that cost $4.25/gal (USD) in my neck of the woods. Now I let the truck pre-condition plugged into utility...
