Great info!! Thanks a bunch. The hot switchover was my call & doing, not my electricians. He gave me a weird look when I proposed it and did it in front of him :D
Electrician came by today to do the last bit of install, hooking up our small AC unit to the generac panel. We tested it out with success (no soft start needed, I guess because of the size of our AC), and he started putting covers on panels, etc. Once everything was back in place we did another...
I think SOME vehicles have a stamped VIN on the frame somewhere (usually in the engine bay) just in case of tampering of the more visible VINS.
ON searching for f150 stamping locations it sounds like it's some sort of secret.
I appreciate both of your comments. Ya'll have some competing viewpoints but I for one am learning lots from both of you. FWIW
It feels like an internet fight to each of you perhaps but IMO it's 2 people with differing informed opinions and priorities. You're both clearly well informed and...
I had this exact experience yesterday with the bull rings-- listed as "CONFIRMED DOES NOT FIT YOUR VEHICLE" on amazon. Ford sells a near identical part on ford accessories for more money. Bought the amazon one "just in case", tried it, it fits like a glove. There's no clear way to dispute the...
Your photos are really helpful thank you. Frankly I'd prefer it pull that direction rather than be a bit slack. Looks like your bracket is at the very edge of the metal. I will probably submit your exact spec. I'll try to note that it's your exact spec in my submission. Thanks a bunch!
You've done the measurements already for your lightning, mind providing those to us here? I would like to get an order in but can't get to the truck for a bit, this is exactly what I'm looking for.
Also, as a sailing fan I love the thought of a product for my truck made by a sailmaker. Perfect...
At least over here, Ford is no longer a sunrun partner-- my dealership pushed qMerit and I'm glad they did after I read some of the headaches w/Sunrun installs
We are in a very special spot where we think our AC unit is small enough (very small house) that we can hook it up. I'll book a date this week with the electricians to come back out and try hooking up, and we'll run some tests knowing that we'll have a contingency if it doesn't work/faults out...
my electricians did that as a temporary thing during testing, then supposedly did something more code compliant including adding a 2nd grounding rod. they didn't touch my cable
interested to hear how this works out! what's your draw needs? my electricians wanted me to manage the circuits I'd be needing or using. I suppose you'd do the same by flipping individual breakers?
Just got mine done, tested, with one big issue that the electricians came back and fixed.
Got the Generac HomeLink 30a MTS

The usual stuff with the bonded neutral, my electricians figured that one...
It's an absolutely fair point. Free market and all.
With products with "fuzzy" prices such as most dealership cars, warranties, enterprise software, etc., as opposed to fixed price commodities, there's a bit of a game involved. If you don't know you're playing a game, then you're the sucker...
