  1. Ford Nav is not ready for prime time?!?!

Actually there are a few (not many but they are there) Tesla non Magic Dock superchargers in the NAV. They've been in the NAV since at least 2023. However, yes it is beyond the pale for about 5 - 8% of Tesla Superchargers to be in there and the overwhelming majority, to not be listed. Having...
  2. Charging at Uncles Shop - NEMA 6-50r

I've used a welding receptacle twice now. The key is having appropriate adapters. I got my adapters from ACWorks.com - well made stuff, easy to pack.
  3. My 16th Lightning Road Trip of More Than 1500 Miles

I note that we participants, every one of us, can only speak credibly about our personal position. None of us can credibly speak for the mythical "average auto owner". Same goes for the wider category of "average auto user" (because not every user is an owner). Ditto for the even more...
  4. Hacker Uses Flipper Zero to Break Into a Navy SEAL's Van

On one of the Russian software mod companies' web page for the Ford / Mazda family (not/not FORScan) there had been a security product listed called in Russki a "seed", basically a hardwired hard-to-locate security locker / CANBUS system immobilizer for any RF-based theft approaches to the Ford...

Which state is Your state? Your avatar doesn't say it.
  6. BringIt tailgates?

This is an interesting technical solution. However, the selection for the TG2 for the F150 stops at the 2015 - 2020 F150 versions. Per their web page, the TG3 and TG4 selections will not work with the 360 camera OEM functions. Between these two limits, that mostly rules out our Lightnings...
  7. My 16th Lightning Road Trip of More Than 1500 Miles

Yeah that one was my mistake. I looked for one thing, and among the search results up came an unwanted artifact, or something. Sorry.
  8. Virginia FOR SALE - new Ford 2023 Lightning spare wheel + tire $200 + shipping.

Don't know... I can research this with UPS and with FedEx if You send me a DM with a zip code or an address to either (or to both). The spare is wheel is just sitting there taking up shed space. I'd rather it be useful for someone.
  9. Speaker upgrades without breaking bank or any significant wiring changes

That was my 1st step. And yes, they did make a noticeable, good improvement. BTW - my system is the six-speaker system.
  10. Trailer Brake System Fault rodent damage post #24

Hmmm... I tow fairly often, in season. Perhaps the truck's trailer brake monitor (the TRM module) has detected unusual signal(s) or unusual behavior from the trailer's brakes? or another component like lights? ...meaning, perhaps there is a safety-related fault but it is on the trailer side...
  11. My 16th Lightning Road Trip of More Than 1500 Miles

And I just looked up Lake Itasca MN... and I see a whole wall of Tesla Destination AC charging points. These Tesla Destination points are usually free. All it takes is an adapter.
  12. My 16th Lightning Road Trip of More Than 1500 Miles

Although the DC Fast stations can be the most convenient charging points on a long road trip, insisting on using only DC Fast stations for charging seems (to me) akin to insisting that one will only ever drink beer from a beer stein, and never from a beer glass or even a paper cup. Beer is...
  13. My 16th Lightning Road Trip of More Than 1500 Miles

...and You cannot plug in and charge anywhere there, at 240V or at 120V even? Surely the truck will sit while You and family enjoy Voyageurs... electricity is just electricity. The truck will sit... surely it can sit plugged in. I've charged at 240V off a welder's receptacle twice now, off...
  14. Speaker upgrades without breaking bank or any significant wiring changes

As far as I can explain it, these well-designed door blocking plates make the inside of the door a resonance box like a guitar body is a resonance box. The effect is notable, and for the $$ spent, very effective. Just take Your time putting each plate on, and use the dimples in the door...
  15. My 16th Lightning Road Trip of More Than 1500 Miles

I see things differently. Since May 2022 when I sold the Ford Fusion and bought the now-gone Mach E, we've traveled, by myself, with the dog, with preteens and with teenagers for 154,000 miles to / thru Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware...
  16. Speaker upgrades without breaking bank or any significant wiring changes

from Crutchfield: JL Audio C3-650 convertible speakers for the front, + JL Audio C1-650 speakers for the rear, and a square of stick-on sound deadening for directly around each speaker, from Soundsgoodstereo: blocking plates for all four doors, and You're done. IMHO and by advice from an old...
  17. Ford's Important Tip For Driving Your Lightning in the Cold: Preconditioning / Pre-Heat Your Battery

So I have the FCSP and also a dedicated EV Time-of-use electric sub-meter (a pilot program here that is now closed for new entrants but continues as a grandfathered clause for its early entrants). When at home, thanks to the FCSP's 80 amp firehose of juice (for my 2023 XLT), I set a Winter...
