I have an 2023 XLT ER and I’m looking to upgrade the audio, is there any direct replacement speakers anyone has had success with, without adding amplifiers or anything more than replacing the stock speakers?
Thanks for any and all input.

Yes. I have a 2023 Lariat ER and replaced the speakers with Powerbass direct fit replacements. Think the model # is OE69C-FD. Got One pair of 6x9, one pair of 6.5 inch speakers and two front tweeters. Found them on Amazon. Replacement process was easy, found some videos online. And I also disconnected the front center speaker which does more harm than good. The sound is definitely better and didn't cost that much. Good luck.

There are several that have upgrades speakers and done moderate upgrades and they are very happy with the results for a reasonable amount of money. There are a few threads on this forum and also go search and review the f150gen14.com. There are several threads over there. The ICE trucks are identical to the Lightning when it comes to 12v systems, sound systems, etc.

from Crutchfield: JL Audio C3-650 convertible speakers for the front, + JL Audio C1-650 speakers for the rear, and a square of stick-on sound deadening for directly around each speaker,

from Soundsgoodstereo: blocking plates for all four doors,

and You're done.

IMHO and by advice from an old car stereo installer guru: there's no need to mess with changing the A Column tweeters on the current F150.

I put a pair of Alpines in the front doors, minimal improvement as they really need more amp than stock.

Set ordered. Makes that big a difference without adding an amp huh?
As far as I can explain it, these well-designed door blocking plates make the inside of the door a resonance box like a guitar body is a resonance box.

The effect is notable, and for the $$ spent, very effective. Just take Your time putting each plate on, and use the dimples in the door metal to align with their dimple holes in the door plate before drilling in the securing screws. Also, place the door plates right over the thin plastic moisture barrier seal... the black goo on the edge of the moisture seal will help to seal the door plate edges to the door metal.

I wonder if just the door plates without changing the speakers would make a noticable improvement in audio ?

That was my 1st step. And yes, they did make a noticeable, good improvement. BTW - my system is the six-speaker system.

It has been a good minute since perusing the audio threads (back when I was wanting to upgrade my audio setup). I thought most of what I had seen/read was folks pulling off that barrier seal to apply the backing plate, good to know.

Although I had intended to come back and purchase these (and may still) I ended up pulling off the plastic barrier on each door and applied sound deadening on the inside of it, and then reapplied it to the black goo edge.

Probably spent more of my own labor/time doing this, comparably. Lots of intricate cuts-sloping edges-pockets to get the barrier filled completely...regardless, the end result was very positive.

A labor of (mostly weekend ;)) love, and all that... nothing wrong with that.
