We spent the Thanksgiving week there and had to spend some time at the Outer Banks Brewery level 2 and keep it plugged in the 120 outlet at the house all week. It was really annoying to see the 12 brand new empty Tesla Superchargers at the mall that for some reason they decided not to put...
Yeah, I’m headed from Raleigh to Lake Anna this weekend and I’m either going to have to go Spotsylvania and backtrack or spend some time at one of the crappy EVGos or Chargepoints in Richmond.
You’re already good to get to Rockingham. I-95 and US 74 are well covered. The bigger problem is getting through Virginia south of Fredericksburg. The only EA in Richmond has been a disaster for months and it went completely offline this week.
They really need to put something in the Nags Head area. This is one of the top tourist areas on the east coast and they have charging stations that will get you there but then you’re stuck with level 1 or 2 to get enough to go home. I was hoping Circle K would put chargers at one of their...
It’s interesting that Ford isn’t sharing data with your utility. Duke Power in NC is running a trial now where they get data from Ford. I get up to 800 kWh per month for a fixed price and the power company can control my charging schedule. I’m allowed to override it up to 4 times a year. I did a...
I don’t know for sure but converting hex to decimal:
8C=140
94=148
98=152
Each click is an increment of 4 so you probably need 144 decimal which is 90 hex.
The CSP hasn’t shown up on my account yet but I went by the dealer today and showed him I had the affected part and I’m scheduled to get it replaced next week. The part is in stock at one of their other locations so they have to get it sent over.
There’s a message that pops up when you enter a new charger as a destination that says something about the range has been recalculated (I’m taking a trip this weekend so I’ll try to catch it). I’ve assumed that the truck was calculating how many kWh it would need to get the battery up to temp...
Yeah, they work like doors. You can lock them or unlock them. The frunk is a new concept so Ford could have treated it like a trunk but most lift gates on SUVs will open if unlocked so you could go either way. The locking tail gate is a relatively modern concept, the first 30 years I owned...
I knew something was flaky in the whole 12V system. Hopefully this is the final fix. I already emailed my SA with a picture of my sensor so hopefully he has the part and can take care of it along with my 10k service.
There is a fixed amount of ”overhead” that consumes power anytime you are charging, no matter the rate. This energy is lost as heat and does not add to your charge. If you add 10% to the battery in 1 hour you will waste one-tenth as much as it would in 10 hours.
That’s available power, not battery capacity. It is probably just reduced because the batteries are cold. It should come back. Also, after some of these updates it can take a while for the cells to rebalance and the software might be limiting you until that process completes. It just means it...
While some people can live with only 120V charging that is kind of an edge case. I’ve found that a lot of people think that you can only charge where there is some specialized equipment. You get people who will try to point out that there are a lot more gas stations than chargers and I respond...
On Plugshare I’ve noticed that as you zoom out it reduces the number of chargers visible so there are more than these screenshots show. There should be both a V2 and a V3 site on the NC Outer Banks and neither show up.
As @Maquis says above you are thinking of DC. You start to lose time when the truck is requesting less than the equipment can supply. That happens a lot sooner when there is 100 kW or more available on DC. The curve below shows my last 100% charge on an SR battery using a 48A (11.5 kW) EVSE. I...
