Iāve kept alive every vehicle Iāve owed for 15+ years, even in the case of the collapse of Saab. Somehow thereās salvage parts available and when āclosedā systems get abandoned, communities find ways to hack it back to life.
I noticed my drivers side door has increased wind noise. When the door is closed I can see from the outside that the upper part with the keypad on it isnāt closing flush with the body like the other doors. Hopefully that YouTube video does the fix. This is my first F150 but it seems this is...
It was surprisingly stable. The air donut shapes are about 12in in diameter so itās very beefy. I wouldnāt ever get under the truck with one of these but for lifting one wheel at a time to swap them for winter ones itās worked great so far.
Just came across that bash plate from the Australian YouTube video mentioned above. Not clear how we could get our hands on that in the US though. Iāll try reaching out to them too.
I recently got this air jack that hooks up to my portable pancake air compressor that I have in the garage. When I first tried it to put on the winter wheels, it lifted the truck in about 2 seconds and that was impressive...
Wild. Iāve noticed solar glare at just the perfect angle can cause the camera(s) to glitch and start throwing warnings. But Iāve not experienced anything that crazy. It does make me wonder though what BC 1.4 does if you essentially pass out at the wheel.
There was a recent ish post about a couple of people having the wrench icon, but with no loss of power. It ended up being the coolant diverter valve failing. https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/powertrain-malfunction-with-100-power-code-p0de9.31639/
As others noted, we all have to do our deep research on these vehicles prior to purchase. Or if you can afford it, just buy the highest trim available and that way you know you got everything š
Thereās a huge amount of space under the bed where the spare tire is. Scout Motors is aiming to put their generator in this location. So Iād give up my spare tire, but not my frunk.
It does seem like most of the used ER Lightnings that I see lately are in the $40-45k range right now regardless of trim (with miles under 50k). I do wonder what used prices will do now with all the trucks coming off lease and it being discontinued.
This is my theory on why Ford might be keeping the Lightning assembly line fairly intact for an EREV version, which in theory simply adds an engine into the frunk (or under under the bed, TBD). That way, if in 2-3 years solid state or some other significantly cheaper battery tech (sodium...
I just donāt believe Ford on this one. That is just an insane amount of money. Although none of us can prove it, they had to have allocated losses under the Lightning program that were barely/remotely associated with it so they could maximize the write off.
