Seems like ford is betting on this result going a certain direction. Let the people speak!

There’s a huge amount of space under the bed where the spare tire is. Scout Motors is aiming to put their generator in this location. So I’d give up my spare tire, but not my frunk.
Good point, that seems feasible if they are going with a somewhat small generator. If they end up having to go the reported ram route and have their fleet v6, seems like the packaging would be a challenge down there.

plus then the frunk might have to hold a small spare tire

Agreed. A v6 would be huge. I think Scout is planning on straight line 3 cylinder.

Worst place in the world for a generator in the salt
Belt , the road salt will destroy the engine and generator head in a few years . It get blasted with the most from the vehicle , when up front it doesn’t get that salt
Bath .The lightning is roomy enough not sure whey we need the space under the hood no one in the history of the world ever needed in a car or truck all the sudden we can’t live without it .

Do Silverados have frunks? I bought battery electric vehicles so as to avoid gas engines and don’t want to go back. Besides, the frunk is watertight even in hard rain at highway speeds, and I use it.

I could live without the Frunk.

I wonder if they could squeeze a small ICE/DC-GEN in the transmission hump section, while moving the thermal management systems elsewhere under the chassis? This could preserve all or some of the Frunk capacity!!

Wherever the engine would fit underneath and keep the frunk. Either put it in front or in back where the spare is or in the bed behind the cab with air intakes. If it was a flat engine that would go under the frunk itself in place of the storage compartment then they could also use it as a water cooled heater in the winter and replace that crappy heat pump that takes about 2.5 miles from a dead stop in 20° F when my regular F150 could be blowing hot air in a mile. Also I could be at a store in the winter and it would be faster using the climate control before coming out. It already has a radiator and blower system up front for the battery so they can find an engine without taking up the whole frunk compartment.

Please tell that to the Bug, Ghia, Porsche, and …owners that loved their frunk….oh I love very narrow minded internet posts. Oh and almost forgot TESLA whom had it almost a decade before the LightningšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

And I love and use mine always. All my overlanding soft gear lives there so I have it for my tent year round so please only speak for yourself when you say ā€œno oneā€ as you will always be wrong when you speak in definitives. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

No way would I give up the spare tire - I've had three flats in the ten months that I have had my Lightning. I drive off road to mountain top two way radio sites often enough that I can not be without a real spare tire. BTW, two of those flats were on the freeway and the third on a gravel road...

Are you paying attention to this group of Ford F-150 Lightning owners, who are the most likely buyers of future electrified Ford trucks?

Small diesel generator would make the most sense. Take a look at Edison motors up in Canada. They are developing a heavy duty truck up in British Columbia. They are working through some regulatory issues, which no surprise are impacted by USA regulations. Edison Motors | Diesel-Electric Trucks Redefined

No because weese a small minority group and weese don't get any tax credits or other tax encentives for Ford except for a big 19.5 Billion tax write off with a Michigan corporate rate of 6% and Federal rate of 21% that amounts to a savings of 5.265 billion in taxes so in reality they took a bunch of government handout incentives to start the whole process and get a tax savings to go on top of it to end the process.

bmw has been placing the REX in the rear under the trunk for years without issue. I’d rather keep the frunk than have a spare I’m going to only use once every 7 years or so.
