If the regen bar exceeds 100% then the brake pads are being used. Otherwise they are only used about 5' from coming to a stop and occasionally during ABS activation. Maybe not perfect but that regen bar is a really good indication

Agree completely. 2pd mode, apply brake pedal, brake lights 1pd mode, let off throttle, brake lights. There is no situation where this is helpful information. . And, fwiw, the truck is in "regen" the moment you push the brake pedal.
