  1. Ford Marketing continues to amaze...

They never sent me my picture at all (December delivery), so better late than never! I was able to get a Ford guy on Twitter to track down the picture and send it to me, though! Some wires got between the camera and my truck, so maybe that's why they didn't send it originally. Who knows?
  2. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

Yeah, $60k is only a bad price relative to the original (ridiculous) price. It's in line with other trucks and trims and EVs, now.
  3. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

Yeah, and there are pros and cons to both methods, but I'd prefer same range, smaller battery in general, probably. That wouldn't inherently be a huge selling point between Mach E and Model Y for me, though. Anecdotally, none of those are substantially better for Ford than Tesla, for me. Maybe...
  4. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

We know people place an outsized emphasis on certain things even if they don't use them a lot, especially if they feel like it's way worse than what they used to have (gas convenience on trips). 250kW+ charging would be really nice. Make or break in REALITY? No, but it's a pretty substantial...
  5. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

It's not for everyone, just like EVs. But even for people who don't like it, it will probably put pressure on the more traditional manufacturers to improve their offerings or lower their prices (see Mach E price drops after Model Y price drops). Competition is good for consumers.
  6. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

The reality is that trucks are just crazy expensive, now. To replicate the base Lightning Pro in a gas truck, you'd have to spend $50k, so after tax credit, it's only $2500 more than the gas version, which is an XL Supercrew 4x4 Powerboost Hybrid. A Lariat or Platinum or whatever would be a lot...
  7. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

Oh, yep, the 360 cam is great for such a huge vehicle, for sure! I use it basically every time I drive. It's a must have, IMO. Is the Tow Technology package on the XLT cheaper because the 360 cam is standard? Edit: someone answered my question already. It's a $550 difference in the Tow Tech...
  8. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

I'm not sure if your $11k number was for "then" or "now", but the Lightning Pro is ~$10k more than an ICE equivalent, now. $2500 if you get the tax credit. It was many thousands cheaper than an ICE equivalent originally.
  9. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

Pro is still available to fleets, I believe, but yeah, kinda meaningless to retail buyers.
  10. Update: F-150 Lightning Prices Increase for Pro, Lariat, Platinum as Order Banks Reopened Today

I might get the XLT at this price, but I don't think it's a no-brainer to pay $3500 for painted bumpers, light bar, and an "upgrade" to cloth seats/carpet. But this brings it in line with the difference between the gas XL and XLT, so it's definitely a reasonable choice one way or another, now.
  11. Lightning v. Mach-E: Same Miles/kWH??

2.43mi/kWh is only ~16% better than 2.08mi/kWh, but surprisingly, a "normal" F-150 is 19-20mpg combined vs an Edge at ~23mpg, which is a similar ~15%. I would have expected a bigger gap, for sure. That probably comes down to the Edge being pretty inefficient for it's size. 23mpg combined for a...
  12. Lightning v. Mach-E: Same Miles/kWH??

You're right about mpg vs mi/kWh. The Mach E *should* get better efficiency in general, but the GTPE does have higher performance tires and such that hurt efficiency. Still should be better, though, according to EPA: Mach E GTPE: 41 kWh/100 miles = 2.43 mi/kWh Lightning ER: 48 kWh/100 miles =...
  13. Polite and Easy ways to charge at Tesla Superchargers

For now, yes. I think *technically* for Tesla to get the federal funding, they will have to offer a non-app payment option (there was a single kiosk spotted at a Supercharge station recently), but the app normally works quite well, so I would plan to use that.
  14. Polite and Easy ways to charge at Tesla Superchargers

Yeah, with parking spots on both sides (I've never seen this before, in person, at a Supercharger), he probably could have pulled straight in and charged without messing anything up IF he could pull far enough forward. Hard to say if that would have been feasible or not. Would be tight.
  15. Polite and Easy ways to charge at Tesla Superchargers

Thanks. I hadn't seen anyone actually try to use the "pull in" Supercharger, so it's nice to see that it works, albeit with the truck sticking out some.
  16. NY Times Op-Ed by Ezra Dyer: Ford Is Leaving Tesla in the Dust

    Ford buying Canoo confirmed!
  17. NY Times Op-Ed by Ezra Dyer: Ford Is Leaving Tesla in the Dust

Ford quality control isn't anything to write home about either. If Quality Control was a main deciding factor, I certainly wouldn't buy either Ford or Tesla.
  18. New Frunk in Town- Cybertruck Beta Videoed

Hard to say. We don't know pricing, charge rates, etc. for either of them. And how many will each company actually be able to build? Production will be a huge constraint of sales for a few years at least.
  19. New Frunk in Town- Cybertruck Beta Videoed

Certainly looks smaller than the Lightning. Although the Lightning's 2nd row is exorbitantly large. Very nice to have, for sure, but way overkill for a lot of cases.
