Hope so too, looking forward to converting my first day reservation to an order! I guess we’ll know by the end of the week, they’ll certainly release pricing/ build pages ahead of ordering.
If it’s a close one by 9/30 and they have half a brain, they will delay delivery of a few thousand vehicles to 10/1 just to keep the credit for another quarter. I think Tesla did just that when they were in this situation a couple years ago.
I fully get your reasoning for calling it a stunt because they pre planned for generator aka Powerboost charging. But: wouldn’t it be possible to make that trip using maybe 120V outlets for (very slow) charging? Or are there simply none there? I’ve never been up there.
Thank you guys so much for bringing this silly argument over here. Saves me much time by not having to hop over to electrek and read it over there for the. umpteenth. time.
How about one out of two?? Seriously, I’ll ? do that and post results here….when ever…I get….my truck. Pretty sure someone will beat me to it , and I’m perfectly happy with that!
Well I haven’t tried it yet! Haven’t even been able to order the truck yet (reserved during reveal), but I researched this a few months back because I’d love to use the exact same setup at my house. Seems so much easier if you don’t mind flipping the lockout switch the few times a year the power...
On the Powerboost forum someone said it will work IF you disconnect the ground in the male plug that you plug into the outlet on the truck. Only neutral and the two hots will be connected. This will bypass the truck’s GFCI tripping. Easy enough to try out. Caution: truck will not be grounded.
With no plans to use the HIS, and usually only using 40-50%, you don’t need to change anything. Just charge at 40 amps and only upgrade if that turns out to be insufficient.
I asked Farley directly on Twitter and, surprise! No answer. We’ll see some movement soon, I’m just hoping there won’t be any more dealer/ZEV prioritization. I didn’t like it the first time, Ford repeating the same mistake would just be an insult at this point.
Slight difference in that the parking spot is a one time expense and the electricity would be a continuously recurring one. Around here we have ChargePoint EVSEs in government owned locations. The government entity paid for the installation, but the user pays for the electricity through their CP...
