My rule when buying a new truck, is walk around it, make sure it is perfect. When you are satisfied, then give it a good hard kick that marks it! Now you can park it anywhere and not worry about someone putting the first mark on it.
I would just go to my 5 gallon bucket of automotive bolts, find the largest bolts in bucket that will fit the holes, find nuts. Install it. As tight as you can tighten it with a half inch ratchet will be good enough. This is not rocket science.
I rotate my tires at around 20k miles, and front to back on a diagonal so they all rotate in the opposite direction. I have found that tires get a very slight scallop on tread which is the cause of noise, and by rotating them in the opposite direction, the scallop wears off (but will now scallop...
My story is very similar except the 22 MME ER has 60k and the 23 Lightning ER has 35k. Both are doing great and the first expense will be MME tires. The big question is how far will they go before any large expense? But in the mean time we are saving thousands in fuel and maintenance cost. The...
Well, when I bought our MME, I had a 100 amp sub panel installed in the garage and I then installed a charger in the middle of the side wall of the garage that could reach the car wether it were parked inside the garage or outside the garage. I also had a 220v plug installed at the sub panel so...
You are probably due for a tire rotation. Have your tires rotated and ask them to look at you brake wear at the same time.
But most likely your brakes are at 80 percent.
My MME has 60k on it and its brake wear is about 60 percent. My Lightning has 34k on it and brake wear is better than 50 percent.
I typically have this problem where I may have 280 miles range indicated, It's cold, in mountains, and I'm driving at high speed. So, even though in theory I should have no problem making it to my 220 mile destination, and know the route, I select home and allow the Nav to calculate a route...
I inquired, did the math on 2 electric cars ( 22MME 60k miles and 23lightning 33k miles) and decided to roll the dice and do nothing. Between the fuel cost and Maintenance cost savings and the warrantee monthly cost in a year I will have enough saved to do the repair. But I’m gambling that both...
When I back my MME out of the garage and apply the brakes, it makes sounds like the pads are worn out and I'm grinding the rotors, though I know none of this is true. I attribute this to surface rust buildup due to the infrequent use of the actual brakes. I will definitely use the Neutral...
My Lightning is at 32k and my MNE is at 60k. Both are operating fine, but how are you guys determining you vehicle’s SOH?
I’m don’t know how to do this. When I charge, both vehicles typically top out at about 300 miles, but this is not SOH.
My wife clipped my Lightning backing up while it was charging and nocked the plastic cove off the charging port door. I snapped it back on but then she did it again. So finally it just fell off and was lost. I tried to order the cover but had to order the entire assembly. But then got informed...
Assuming you got the portable Ford 110/220 charger with the vehicle, have the electrician run the wire for the FCSP but install a 220 plug, and start charging. When the FCSP fiasco is resolved, switch out the 220 plug for the FCSP.
Being that you are charging via 110vac, I would be charging beyond 80 percent, because charging is so time consuming.
I have 2 electric cars and I charge them too 100 percent every time (especially in the winter). Otherwise, they are useless to me. Our MME now has 60k miles on it and the...
How about, you buy it and I will trade you even for my 23XLT ER with 32k miles on it. I will even swap wheels and tires!
Actually, I am a risk taker, and I would have loved to have had a (potential) deal like that, assuming the price was right and it had a full warranty starting on day one...
Thanks for the additional information. Your story is exactly what I worry about, but that said my 22 MME at 60k and my 23 Lightning at 32k have been flawless.
My hope for you is that you gain confidence in your Lightning and drive it with reckless abandon as I do! In a year my MME will be out of...
This post is to Piquette. Tell me more about your 2 cell replacement experience. What was the mileage on truck at time. What told you there was something wrong, what were symptoms, was it all under warranty, how long was the truck out of commission?
