  1. Crossing an EV (and quite real) desert

You are one brave dude! I am typically pretty brave, but I have an ER so that helps a lot!
  2. Where’s the savings!!!!

From my 2 and a half years of owning 2 electric cars (22MME 60k miles and 23 Lightning 31k miles) I have found tremendous fuel savings if I charge at home, but for retail purchased charging the savings is minor. If I had to do all retail charging, I probably would not own EVs. The MME’s EPA...
  3. NEMA 14-50 Outdoor Box

What everyone said is great advice. For a lot of precipitation, you could cover the charger with a trash bag. Pick an optimum location for the plug. You could also run a heavier gauge wire in case you want to upgrade to a higher current charger some day.
  4. Will you renew BlueCruise?

well, I see: Premium Connectivity (not activated) Blue Oval Charging Network (Active) Alexa Built-in expires 11/15/26 Connected Built-in Nav expires 11/15/26 So, does the Nav go completely dead? The Blue Oval Charging Network has no expiration date (just says active). What does that mean? I...
  5. Living in The Lightning On The Road -- Almost a Year and Counting

You are so right, but an ER would be a little help. The NAV just doesn’t take terrain into consideration. But I the driver who does know the terrain is free to override the NAV because we really are in control ( NAV doesn’t consider that the next 100 miles is primarily down or up hill).
  6. New owner in Pennsylvania F-150 Ford Lariat

Welcome from York Pa. I have had my 23 XLT ER for 16 months and have racked up 30k miles. I’m all smiles!
  7. Living in The Lightning On The Road -- Almost a Year and Counting

Wow, once you get a Tesla adapter you will feel like you died and went to heaven! It’s just that your charging options will double and if the EA chargers are full, no problem, there is a Tesla super charger around the corner.
  8. A2Z Adapter Recall: Typhoon v1 Exchange Program

I bought an A2Z adabter a few years ago. Used it several times, then got my Ford adapter. I got the email from A2Z about the recall, followed the instructions and eventually received the replacement a couple months ago. But there was no return instructions for the old A2Z adapter so I’m just...
  9. Charger apps- which work best?

Most importantly, make sure Ford pass is set up with your credit card info before you leave. Then, test it first chance you get so you know it will work when you really need it. Down load Electrify America, ABRP, and Plug share Aps. Try to borrow a Tesla adapter if possible. Dow load Tesla Ap...
  10. Ford Lightning with an onboard power system that provides a 240V output, tw0 110vac 180 degree?

Well, I had a generator plug and a simple main safety added, but when I connected the truck 220v to the house, the truck GFI tripped. After much internet searching, I finally disconnected the ground wire at the generator plug and it all works! I’m sure someone will be rolling their eyes at my...
  11. Why isn’t the Lightning getting more of the gas F150 market?

I agree that pretty much sums it up. But a day will come when the pendulum will stop and suddenly go the other way. And some day in the future, a person will say do you remember when cars used gasoline and you had to go to a convenience store to buy gas? How inconvenient!
  12. Yeah or nay!

Ok, I will tell you the same thing I told my kids and now my grand kids, “An automobile is nothing but heartache and misery, and the sooner you accept that, the better off you will be.” (In other words, don’t do things to your vehicle that results in you being too proud of it or cherish it...
  13. No news must be good news.

I have had my MME (56k miles) for 30 months and I have had my Lightning (30k miles) for 14 months and I haven’t had any issues. I have gotten software updates at night, a few recalls, but by and large, both vehicles perform great. Yes, I have to spend more time planning major trips, but we have...
  14. Why isn’t the Lightning getting more of the gas F150 market?

Regarding dealers talking people out of EV’s, I think they have read the tea leaves so to speak. The EV’s might go 100k miles without even a brake job. With no oil changes, there is no opportunity to look the vehicle over and suggest this or that maintenance. Once the majority of vehicles are...
  15. Charging to 100%

I typically charge 60/70 % to 100%, because the vehicles are useless to me if I can’t leave in a moments notice and drive 200 plus miles. My 22 MME now has 60k and my 23 Lightning has 30k and I haven’t noticed any battery degradation on either. I’m guessing that by the time I need to address...
  16. Ford Telsa Adapter. - difficult to plug in

Plug the Tesla end into the adapter first. I have had to put the adapter against the curb and push real hard. It will not work unless the latch on the adapter is fully engaged. Then connect the adapter to the truck.
  17. Enable Drive / Reverse With Door Open

I have exactly the same experience with my 23. I want to back up just an inch to hook up my boat trailer, but I have to close the door to get the truck to move. What a pain!
  18. New member 24 Lariat ER

And, never assume, error on the side of caution, and have a plan! just this week, I hauled a refrigerator (upright) and a stove 220 miles, and the added wind resistance, weight and cool weather required a charge on the way. The truck nav wanted us to stop at an EA charger but the EA AP showed...
  19. Anyone have a HIS installed in the San Francisco bay area?

Don’t waste your money on HIS. Just have a generator bypass switch and plug installed when you have the charger installed (yes there are GFI issue that require a work around) I can run anything in my house (except AC) just not at same time. I also have solar panels that I disable when using the...
  20. Charge Station EV conversion to $4.50 per gallon @18mpg

EV’s only make sense when you are doing 80% ish of your charging at home. But also, there really isn’t much competition when it comes to fast chargers, the last thing I look at is charging cost rate, I’m way more interested in whether there is an available plug or if the Tesla cable is long...
