  1. Cybertruck Prices and Trim

I think this is a threat to Tesla, but at this point the brand is well established and the mainstream doesn’t care about his opinions or politics. Outside of this country Musk is a god. The guy has Asperger’s and is a human robot. I judge him on results and he delivers. The new Super Duty is...
  2. Cybertruck Prices and Trim

Most have to justify their purchase right or wrong. Disruption isn’t obvious until it is. Jason Cammisa calls the CT “Truck 2.0”. He mentioned like many he wrote it off because of the looks. This is a very well thought out and innovative vehicle. It’s going to be very hard for competitors...
  3. Cybertruck Prices and Trim

I’m not being an owner of EVs since 2017. It didn’t add up to me from the start. The battery alone didn’t make it a viable platform for under $60k. A 98kWh battery, AWD, crew cab, LEDs, screen tech, powered frunk, etc. I owned a 2017 Bolt that cost the same as my 2023 Lightning Pro. Tesla...
  4. Cybertruck Prices and Trim

Anything that can make a truck more maneuverable, charge faster and get off the antiquated 12V system is a positive to me. Drive by wire can break as well, heck anything software driven is prone to failure. Ford did a great job converting the excellent F 150 platform, but there was no real...
  5. Cybertruck Prices and Trim

I personally don’t care about peak speeds. I want to gain the most kWh DCFC in 45 mins or less. A low SOC, a warm battery, good battery management software, and a properly functioning DCFC are the necessary components to a great charging session. My Ioniq 5 would DCFC 10-90% in the same time...

Other Pros of CT: 800V 48V system Steer by wire Under bed storage
  7. Scary situation happened when backing up with one pedal drive

OP should consider salting and sanding that steep narrow driveway. It seems difficult to back down in ideal conditions. I have used 1PD with all my EVs since 2018. I have never experienced the situation mentioned. 1PD is a great feature of driving an EV and this event shouldn’t deter drivers...
  8. [UPDATE: It's repairable...] Well, F-150 Lightning it was nice knowing you... Hopefully, I can find another...

Glad you and everyone else is ok!? Any damage to the battery? If cover is scraped that will cause a total loss on its own.
  9. Any reason to wait for 2024 Model?

It’s not demand, it’s affordability that caused some EV markets to slow. In CA with high gas prices and state incentives, EV sales are still increasing (20% sales). ?
  10. Installing a heat pump

Tesla figured out how to offset the exorbitant costs of the battery and scale production to not lose a ton of money. Ford was incorrect to "transition" customers and its BEV sales numbers and losses back that up. The current generation of Ford EV's will end up being the best built, but it is...
  11. Installing a heat pump

Jokes aside, Is that carryover shifter really necessary in the Lightning? Why do we need to keep bringing the entire legacy supply chain along into BEV’s? If legacy wants to make a profit with EVs they must start designing them using 1st principles. Create software defined vehicles using zonal...
  12. Installing a heat pump

I couldn’t live without the heated seats in my Pro. IMHO: Manufacturers should not make any EV’s without heated seats or heated steering wheel. They can also provide other ways to heat the cabin and keep the windows clear. Toyota’s radiant heater on the bZ4X seems like a good idea and how...
  13. Installing a heat pump

I have a 2022 TM3 LFP (Gen 2 HP) with 15K miles currently (purchased new). My gf drives it 60 miles a day (60% highway 40% city) I see a 10% hit (4.9 to 4.4) when using the heat vs Lightning which is 20% (2.3 to 1.7). Another post in this thread shows the same 10% draw with the newer Tesla HP...
  14. Installing a heat pump

The video I have referenced 2x explains the current generation of Tesla’s HP. Have you watched it, or are you basing your opinion on your own experience? It’s not whether they can produce heat. It’s the efficiency in doing it. A resistive heater is better in producing heat, but it is...
  15. Installing a heat pump

It is useful in most conditions. Extreme temps are not the norm for the majority of the country. Why would manufacturers use heat pumps in BEVs if it isn’t beneficial? This WeberAuto video is a must watch, check out the video comments. I am sure many skeptics here will agree with his...
  16. Installing a heat pump

According WeberAuto there is no resistance component. The Tesla heat pump uses 15+ ways to scavenge for heat. No other manufacturer has anything close to this sophistication. Tesla’s thermal system (octo valve and super manifold) are brilliantly engineered, compact and used with minor...
  17. Help me pick the best deal

Ouch….that CA tax is killer! I wouldn’t be in a rush to buy as the market for expensive EV’s has softened. I feel better deals are coming in the months ahead. CT will release soon and it will stimulate other manufacturers to incentivize their EVs. Many can’t afford the monthly payments now...
  18. 18" vs 20" OEM Wheels for Battery Range

Slow your highway speed down to 65-70 and limit your use of heat. These alone will net the range you are seeking. Aerodynamics and heat are killers of highway range. I don’t think 18 inch rims will make that much of a difference at highway speeds. Maybe 10-20 more miles of range.
  19. My Lightning has been in the shop for 16-weeks, HVAC and other issues

Lack of experience is real. I called some Ford dealers around me in CT, regarding a reduced power notification I had months ago. My local dealership (1 mile away) only services BEVs at their other location 50 miles away, not convenient. Calls to other dealerships weren’t encouraging either...
  20. I know why Ford can't sell all Lightnings on dealer lots.

I think Tesla has commoditized the sales experience so much that it’s a non event. They put your name on dashboard so you know what vehicle is yours. Because Connecticut has no sales location, vehicles must be delivered in New York. Picking up a Tesla in Mount Kisco, NY hasn’t changed since...
