In many pre-production F-150 YT videos, the Sync4 center stack screen showed an off-road page with the tilt axis, etc. I don't have it on mine. Yes, it's an FX4. I do have the off-road screen in the dashboard, but not on Sync4 12" center screen.
Does anyone have that page there?
Hmm not sure, but a few months ago Ford said they were pushing out an OTA update, but which production dates did this apply to? Mine got built end of Feb and it says it's up to date as of today. Yours was obviously made before mine, but what was Ford's cut off date for this update? Don't know
Thank you! I don't trailer anything remotely as large as you do, but nonetheless there was a certain degree of pride and accomplishment in what I did today :) First truck, first trailer, first time out on the road with all of it!
Indeed. Same issue with the 2kw in my Platinum. Fans going all the time, even though I don't need it to be on. An annoyance for sure, given those trucks are so quiet inside, aside from those fans in the back.
Finally got it done today. Hooked up the trailer (the hitch with the 3 1/2" drop was the best for this trailer), crossed the chains, installed and calibrated the backup sensor, and went for a little drive. All good (y)
So, say 20" from the middle of the F-150 hitch, minus 5" drop, that would give me my 15" I measured before. Need to account for a bit of suspension squat though. Does it matter much if the tailer nose dives a little? Or is the other way around better?
Sounds like a plan, and I'll try the 5" drop first then. Don't think 1/4" or even 1" would make a huge difference if it's not perfectly level, would it?
Lol!! I know right? Unless I fool them all by starting on the opposite end and hit it on the head on the first try ;)
On the showroom floor, while the trailer looked level (by eye), I measured 15 inches to the ball coupler. Not sure what this represents in terms of F-150 hitch height though
Right! The trailer is 5x10 and the quad is roughly 4x8. There isn't that much room. Guess I'll simply drive it as forward as it can go and hope for the best lol!
It's a regular quad, but a 2-up model. Quite large. Lots of stuff in the cargo bins too. ATV 'wet' weight is at 1100 lbs. I added an extra 100 lbs for all the cargo stored on it, to be sure. Adding the 584 lbs trailer weight and about 25 lbs for the spare tire, I'm looking at a little over 1,800...
Thanks! Looking forward to using Fordpass's "check trailer lights" feature :)
Guess I'm a little nervous, this being my first time. Just want to make sure the whole contraption doesn't go flying while driving at speed on the highway, nor do I want to experience trailer sway.
Thank you, great tips there! The quad is brand new too (so is the trailer and truck lol), so I have to see where I can find some appropriate strapping points on it, front and back. I asked my dealer to install D-ring anchors on all 4 corners of the trailer deck, so this should be easy to work...
What would be a good hitch drop to begin with? I know it varies depending on trailers and such, but I'd like to get started with an educated guess. I have 3 hitches on hand right now: 2", 3 1/2" and 5" drop. Not sure which one to try first.
