L-NMC 9.5.5 cells supplied by SK-On used in the Lightning are rated at 240Wh/kg
Sodium cells by CATL's Naxtra brand are only 175Wh/kg (other brands are even lower at 140Wh/kg)
37% heavier for the same energy content.
The voltage curve for Sodium cells is very wide (4.1v down to 1.5v) while the...
Norway - often quoted for their high 95% of new car sales are now EV's - but a deeper dive shows EV's are maybe 30% of the actual cars on the road, and we all know Norway is a small population.
China - often quoted for their 45% of new car sales are now EV's in a much bigger population, but...
Sad to see the Lightning sales never caught on, too bad really since the truck is a wonder of modern engineering - software could do with some work yes.
I bought the truck at a great price, (same as the 5L ICE) and although badged XLT, it came with a lot of optional features like bed lighting...
The places with high gasoline prices, but low utilty electric prices are a no brainer for daily communiting and running around. Our "ultra low overnight rate" 3.9 cents is amazing deal.
My last ICE (Ram2500) weighed more than the SR Lightning, and cost me $150/wk for gasoline (plus exhaust...
report back how the set up and everything goes!
I figure the ULO rate plus delivery regulatory charges etc at about 7.9 c per kWh approx. at least for the winter months, then 'almost free' Solar in the spring-summer-fall (ok "free" after the cost of the solar set up LOL)
At 10-cents/kWh it...
did you sign up to SwTCH ?
Grizzl-E waive the 120 fee for the first year, so anyone that is using them could cancel and go with SwTCH at the end of thier first year,... or the competition will force Grizzl-E to drop the membership fee...intersting to see anther pay to charge platform.
now that we are getting snow and have experienced some ice-covered hwy, I can say the Bridgestone Blizzaks make the truck feel like it's "glued" to the road. I am impressed with these.
Hope they last a few winters...
Plus the delivery and regulatory charges, i figure it nets out about 0.079 (with the new ULO at 0.039/kWh, up from 0.028)
With the Grizzl-E Club 3-centkWh credit, should average out closer to 0.049 now.
I highly recommend the solar route, as long as you have the space.
Very True !!!
We built our solar in stages over a few years, buying when good deals were available, installation of the entire system by your's truely.
in US$ about $24k materials (PV, Inverters, Wire Disconnects, racking to support the PV and very large ESS battery built from cells).
The...
Welcome to a great forum with a lot of knowledgeable members and respectful conversation about all things EV-Lightning related !
Will be great to hear your experiences since you have both the MME and the Lightning!
I get Paid 3 Cents per kWh {solar + Grizzl-E Club rebate}
now that I have your attention lol : ok only in better solar time of year, and yeah not so much in November as solar is slim this time of year.
ULO 11pm to 7am is now 3.9c plus a couple cents delivery, minus the 3-cent GEC rate = 3...
60-mile per day commute -SR
longer daily runs, live in an area with sparse charging -ER
Daily towing short distances/city - ER
Daily towing long distances - Superduty
just my take on it.
I will not be surprised to see far better battery tech with much faster charging in a few years, but the...
