  1. Ford Announces Huge 2023 F-150 Lightning Cash Bonus Incentives for Certain Models

What's annoying is that Ford is already conservative with the charging curve, especially on trucks with the Max Towing package which adds extra battery cooling capacity. Rivian is more aggressive on charging curve and their battery cooling capabilities are less. Assuming internal high voltage...
  2. Ford Announces Huge 2023 F-150 Lightning Cash Bonus Incentives for Certain Models

Thanks for the link, that is what it says! Unless the battery packs are changing for 2024, I have a hard time believing that will be accurate.
  3. Ford Announces Huge 2023 F-150 Lightning Cash Bonus Incentives for Certain Models

Do you have a source for this claim? It would be pretty crazy for the DCFC curve to change for the 2024 models unless the battery is changing. I know there's been talk of an LFP pack being offered for the standard range which could possibly charge slower but I don't think LFP pack will be in the...
  4. Next GEN Ford F-150 Lightning Better Than Cybertruck: Farley

If the next gen Lightning can charge close to what Hyundai/Kia's 800V current gen EVs are able to, that will be a huge leap forward in usability. Imagine holding 250kW to 70%, on a 131kWh pack that would be about 22 minutes with 91kWh added. If we can get more DCFC stations that offer better...
  5. F-150 Lightning Partners with KTM Electric Dirtbikes (Junior Supercross)

I thought this was a really cool supporting sponsorship that highlights the power of Pro Power Onboard. https://www.cyclenews.com/2024/01/article/ktm-north-america-welcomes-ford-f-150-lightning-as-supporting-partner-of-2024-ktm-junior-supercross/
  6. Ford caves on EV dealer program following IL loss and will cut charger requirements

I do think forcing dealers to install DCFCs on site in order to sell EVs was a mistake from the start for a few reasons: EV owners don't want to spend time at a dealer unless they have to Dealers are typically not in ideal locations for a DCFC stop, specifically they aren't walkable to...
  7. Out of Spec interview with new Lightning XLT SR owner

Max Patten @ Out of Spec did an interview with a new Lightning purchaser who lives off grid in western Colorado. The buyer has also been posting updates on Twitter at their jaminwestby handle. Another example of a dealer stealing a reservation but ended up getting a good deal on an XLT SR.
  8. 15,000 Mile Review of the F-150 Lightning

Does walk away lock work with iPhone?
  9. 10000 Miles in the middle of Montana

Oh yeah one more thing, there's new "fast level 2" 12kW chargers in downtown Missoula at Adventure Cycling Association, 150 E Pine St. They look priced high at $0.36/kWh though so maybe just stick to DCFC unless you happen to be downtown. https://www.plugshare.com/location/549225
  10. 10000 Miles in the middle of Montana

I noticed a relatively new Town Pump ChargePoint DCFC install in Whitefish if you're up in Flathead, I believe they are CPE250s that are in a shared configuration. It seems like there'a bunch of Town Pump and Pilot stations under construction or in planning that should hopefully go live in next...
  11. 10000 Miles in the middle of Montana

Thanks for the post! I'm in Washington and love visiting Montana, will be in Missoula for Thanksgiving. Would be great to hear from you again in the middle of winter. Western Montana is a real tough use case for EVs (80mph speed limits, mountains, and cold in winter). Do you make use of vehicle...
  12. 2025 Ramcharger Announced

Fun fact, this is why you see pressurized gas tanks on some PHEV vehicles. Having a pressurized fuel tank prolongs the life of the gas. Not saying it fully solves the problem, if you are really going to maximize the EV only driving mode, you probably don't want to top off tank, instead replenish...
  13. 2025 Ramcharger Announced

It's a very interesting design and product packaging depending on the pricing. I am still shocked no one is offering a more traditional PHEV midsize or full size truck. A F150 PowerBoost+ plug in with a 30kWh pack @ 1.5 mi/kWh around town would be 45mi of range which would be really compelling...
  14. WTB: Extra Ford Charge Station Pro?

Do you know for certain that you have capacity and desire to install a 100A circuit breaker in your box? Do you intend to modify your electric system in your home for Intelligent Backup Power (IBP)? If any of those are not true, you may be better served by a different brand and model of home...
  15. Any reason to wait for 2024 Model?

According to this thread, which I don't believe is authoritative, some other changes include: * onboard scales returning * Blue Cruise being reduced from 3y free to 90d free * ActiveX (fake leather) option on Lariat
  16. Sport Mode all the time

Semi-related, did Ford fix the issues where: 1) battery percentage wasn't available on all screens (specifically not calm screen) 2) charging rate in kW was not shown in dashboard when at a DCFC?
  17. Time for new wheels for Platinum

Anyone know what the weights are of the stock Pro, Lariat, and Platinum wheels? I'm trying to compare with aftermarket wheels.
  18. ALL the CHANGES to the 2024 Ford F-150 LIGHTNING

Excited to see the ActiveX seating option on the Lariat, especially considering how the existing leather doesn't seem to wear very well. I would prefer that over leather personally especially since you don't lose heated or ventilated seats.
