I also did finally get the invite as a 5/19 reservation 2 minutes into the presentation. But I wanted to order a truck for $45k max with options/delivery so this is not within the budget. Shame I can't extends and wait on the sidelines, oh well will just have to wait a few years and/or get one...
I will probably be buying a used Lightning or another EV truck down the line then maybe in 5-7 years when they depreciate a bit. Real shame but it was fun to be hopeful for the cheap EV truck.
Very exciting for those who had to wait for 2023+ and helps those between trim levels to consider going higher. Well at least Pro to XLT/XLT+ with the 80k truck limit.
People keep saying there is no market for the battery is flat out wrong. Repurposed EV batteries are the bread and butter for custom off grid homes and for EV conversions. The main thing holding me back from converting my 65 Thunderbird are battery prices for a decent range (100 mi). The more...
This is good news for those who have to wait until 2023+ for an order. First model years always have some sort of unique quirks. I'm sure you can swap a head-unit over later if you really need the android automotive upgrade.
I think longterm (20 years) this first gen will be desirable by being the simplest to repair and upgrade down the road. I mean parts sharing with a vehicle they make 900k of a year and the potential ability to fit in future improved batteries between the frame rails is ideal. If the second gen...
What happens when the 2023 Pro is sold out wave 1 with only 500 made and or they increase the base price next year? Would you consider going to the XLT+ if your were able to order a 2022?
Realistically I feel like every year until demand is gone they will limit the Pro to push people to the higher trims. That way they can say they still offer it but never have to commit to leaving money on the table. Its a smart business plan but it sucks on the consumer end.
