My permit fees were $250 in Michigan when I paid out of pocket for my Autel charger to be installed... I also thought that it was high, but not enough to fight over given the time it would take me to learn what was required and file for the permit on my own.
There are folks who have automatic updates turned off on their trucks... some have gone as far as to disable to modem entirely... that's what Ford is talking about, not applying updates, some of which could affect BC. After your trial expires you'll still have ACC with lane centering available...
Thanks for making me feel better about my 16 cent rate at summer off-off peak hours (11PM-6AM) and 19 cent rate for off-peak (6AM-2PM and 7PM-11PM). My max rate is 23 cents.
Looks like Ford may be the best price option, oddly enough. $148 including core list price. Dropped to $135 including core when I selected my local dealer. And I could use my $48+ in Ford points to reduce it even further...
I wish!
I may get 2.0-2.1 on the hwy at 70, but somehow it always seems like the headwinds shift on my roundtrip so that I only end up in the 1.8-2.0 range. People say Michigan is flat and windless, my range numbers tell me otherwise. lol
Ugh. Unless you live in the Detroit/Port Huron-Toronto-Quebec corridor, it sucks for sure. I haven't had to decide whether to pay yet, but I definitely wouldn't in the Great White North.
You're fortunate. Here in Michigan they forced interstates and other mapped highways into places that required way too tight turns in some places, along with stupid-short acceleration lanes that the Lightning is perfect for.
You'd probably have to ask Ford legal on why BC only works on mapped roads as I'm sure it's all about liability. Have only taken my truck to Canada once, I think, and pretty sure I used BC 1.0 from Sarnia to London on the 402 last summer.
I hear ya on paying for the service... I'm still in my 3...
No frunk... interesting choice, but I think they did it make the interior larger - would like to see a shot under the hood with the cover removed to see how packed it is. Bed is a little under 4.5 feet, so kinda small, but big enough for a lot of use cases, just not those requiring a full-sized...
Pretty much the same as your experience so far.
I have seen the truck slow down on curves while using BC1.4, but I can't say that it's consistent in doing so.
I get "yelled at" (watch the road!) quite often since I'm still watching the rear view mirror before hitting the turn signal to merge...
