$7500 Federal tax credit - how close is Ford to losing it?

How does it work? Do you have to take delivery before the credit drops/ends or just place your order? I am under the impression if you get (whatever that means) a qualifying EV in the quarter the vendor loses the credit you are still eligible for the full credit.

You have to take delivery. Speculation is Ford will sell its 200k allotment in the 3rd quarter of this year. That means all sales in the 4th quarter would qualify for the full credit. Then $3750 for 2 quarters of 2023, then $1875 for 2 quarters.

Now -June 30th - Full $7,500 credit
Q3*Ford hits 200k delivers in this quarter*
July 1st - September 30th - Full $7,500 credit
October 1st - December 31st - Full $7,500 credit
January 1st - June 30th, 2023 - half credit = $3,750 credit
July 1st - December 31st, 2023 - quarter credit = $1,875 credit
