Mine, one of many… I’d like to hear yours. The Lightning was a mere bystander here.
I’ve driven the main road (SR 101) over 50 years.. lots of miles. Two years ago fall I came around a corner and a Western Red Alder had fallen completely across the two lane state highway. Rotten swampland tree, 18” in diameter, it broke into three pieces as it hit and blocked both lanes.
I sighed as I pulled the Lightning up short, stopped, hopped out and walked to the farthest log, each about 10 feet long. As I approached the logs I heard 3 doors shut behind me & looked around and 4 stout fellows were walking up, logger types; choker setters, fallers, operators. Not a word spoken as we lined up on the logs and rolled them to and off the highway shoulder. When the last one rolled away a young fellow said “Well, that’s good enough for me”. We all laughed, walked back to our rigs, and went on our way. The Lightning was quiet.
I’m so lucky to be born, raised, live in this most beautiful place with good people.
