We finished the prototyping on the pro power cover, we use 0.11 inch thick aluminum on this product, and use a magnet to attach the cover so it wont rattle during daily driving.

the only thing we missing is the screw size now.
whats your thought?

To help protect the plugs? Yes, they already have a cover...never hurts to have a little extra. Aesthetics would be another reason. I kinda like the look, although I'd prefer it to swing down so I don't have to hold it up while flipping the plug covers too. Looks like we'd be able to install it either direction.

Yeah, that's a fair point. Some sort of retention mechanism to hold it open would be desireable

Maybe make a cover for that cover so you even better protected. It is just silly. With everyone and anyone posting everything and anything about this truck on forums and Facebook I have yet to see one post that someone damaged their outlets. People post the tiniest of things so I'm sure someone would have posted that. Plus the cover is metal, at least make it plastic so by some freak chance it doesn't become energized by a damaged cord. I'm guessing the ground fault would trip as long as the cover has a good bond to the bed/chassis.

That's what is great about a free market, you don't have to buy it if you don't like it. How many people on this forum swapped out their antenna for a stubby or nothing at all? 99% an aesthetic change (anyone arguing significant gain in aero is deluding themselves). This cover is essentially the same thing. It appeals to me for the looks, and as a tiny bonus I get less dirt and debris caking around the plugs.

Your point about it possibly getting energized seems valid. But I also feel like if someone is using a cord damaged enough that accidental contact is able to energize it, then Darwin will be doing us a favor.

Agreed. I'm always baffled by the negative responses to stuff like this. Just seems to weird to me.

Will I buy this? Maybe, maybe not. I actually accidentally caught something on one of the plug covers on the very first day with my truck and had a momentary freakout that I damaged it. And that was just showing off the truck to a friend. But even if I wasn't worried about damaging them or getting them dirty, maybe I'd buy it just for aesthetics. Are we going to start getting irked at members for adding vinyl letter inserts?

Not to mention the frunk plugs have an overall cover. Granted, they don't have individual plug covers under that but there is precedent.

i gotcha. i agree to have it open down would be ideal. the ability to lock the door would be a nice feature just in case ford allows these outlets to used without having to start the truck

I guess my question is why?
Why?

I haul heavy items under my tonneau, sometimes they are secured, sometimes not. I also have hauled dirt, gravel, and other loose items. Having a metal plate that protects the outlet plugs is handy and valuable to me. I'd like have a sturdy, professional looking plate to protect the only fragile part of my bed.

It isn't for everyone, doesn't need to be. For my use case it would be valuable.

As far as opening down, just install it upside down (as long as the latch is durable and secure). I don't think there is a need to redesign.

You better buy bed light guards and a bed light switch guard.

With the way I use my truck...I would if they were available and affordable.
