Bed Extender Options

Anyone have an opinion on bed extenders? I am liking the ability of the stow-able Ford to keep it out of the way when it is not needed. The aftermarket options are up to $100 less so wondering if it is worth it.

Let me know if you decide and like it. I have always had 6.5ft beds as well, so I have a feeling the 5.5 is going to be an adjustment.

Personally, I don't like the Ford bed extender. The shape of it cuts off the corners too much and it doesn't seem to come close enough to the front edge of the tailgate. Of course, that is determined by how much room there is between the wheelwells and the tailgate when it's closed and the bed extender is flipped back inside the bed. I have used Amp Research in the past and have been very pleased:

I'm also used to a 6.5-ft bed, so I agree it will probably take some getting used to the 5.5-ft bed on the King Ranch I ordered.

Has anyone tried installing the Amp Research on a Platinum Lightning with the integrated tailgate step? A local shop that is installing my RetraxPro bed cover said that the Amp Research bed extender is not compatible. They were told due to some issue with the integrated tailgate step.
We can not see why that would be an issue.
