Failed Upper Ball Joints

Spent some time yesterday removing previous owners lift and wheel spacers. While in there I noticed the upper ball joints were toast. I could just grab the knuckle and get 1/4” of slop. Both sides.

2023 with 27k miles.

ReadyLift front leveling spacers and 1.25” wheel spacers.

Probably mostly due to the wheel spacers, but the lift probably didn’t help.

Moving tires/rims outboard of oem position puts additional load on suspension parts.
It would also be a good idea to check your wheel hub bearings for wear or looseness.

Were they stock rims?

Stock 22” with 305/45R22 Nitto MTs.

Spacers were just for looks as the tires don’t rub without them. Ordered stock size from Costco.

I decided to just order new upper arms rather than deal with the dealership. So much for “safety inspection”. $300 for new Mevotech Supreme arms. I figured they may say “wear item” and you could clearly tell I just had the suspension torn apart.

Did you check for a recall on your vehicle? I have a 23’ Lariat that had a recall on upper control arm ball joint.
