Fault Code and Ford App Issue

I am receiving a fault code and now my truck and Ford App are not connecting. Has anybody else experienced this and how did you resolve it.

Thanks...anything special I need to consider when purchasing a new 12v battery...I've never pulled my battery and didn't know if it a standard 12v battery / 650CCA or a special one having to be purchased at Ford

Mine did the exact same thing today. The 12V battery checked a month ago and they said it was in great shape (and it happened to go through the PA state inspection today). On the phone with Ford App customer support.... They say it has to do with an Android update and a Ford App update. Until they update the app to work with the latest Android version, I had to make Chrome the default browser on the phone and change the setting within Chrome to allow for pop up windows (or something like that). It worked right away after that. I will say my hold time was very brief with Ford, and the representative was very helpful. I don't know that I ever talked with customer support before so this is my only data point.

Whatever 12v battery you get, some of owners keep ours on a battery maintainer like the NOCO GENIUS1, with an AGM mode.

All lead acid batteries will last longer if kept at 100% charge as much as possible - that is just battery science.

One has to charge to 100% to drive off the sulfates that form during use/discharging or they become permanent.

Also, repeated low SOC and high current charging risks over heating the battery and driving off the electrolyte.

The truck seems to do both of those things, according to measurements made by some owners, which is why in many cases they do not last even 3 years. With a maintainer, they can last many times that.

I keep mine hooked up to the maintainer whenever it is parked in my driveway.

It can be a problem with the Mach-e or any other EV as well. I have a 14 year old flooded battery on a maintainer in my 2012 Nissan Leaf and it still shows 80% SOH.

One last thing - the terminal voltage is not the whole story - have to do a "crank test" with a load to be sure battery is healthy. Under load, the terminal voltage drops. The terminal voltage after fully charging (when disconnected from the truck) may seem fine but once the battery "settles" over a period of hours, if it drops too much too fast, then the battery is not healthy.

Yes, i've received this message when I leave my scanner on in the vehicle while it is off. After a period of 4 or 5 hours with the scanner left on.
