FORD - Why aren't you communicating with the first 15,000 timestamps?

I had been thinking around Spring 2023 for mine (which is fine). Thinking it might slide out to 2024 or 2025 is a bit distressing though. My current truck is only 5 years old with 60k miles so it should easily last that long, but the waiting will be horrible. My wife could get her Mach-e and be ready to trade it in before I see my Lightning!
I'm replacing a 2003 Tacoma. I'm ready for a new truck now.

Factory is still under construction. Initial rollout will be slow for a number of obvious reasons and I believe a great number (if not all) 2022 Lightnings produced will go to government and commercial fleet buyers.

I am prepared to wait several years.
I disagree that the majority of first year production will go to fleets. Ford will have a PR nightmare if individuals aren't getting trucks they ordered. They already have delays with every vehicle being delivered this year.

It would also seem to violate a core tenet of Ford’s business philosophy, which is to deliver for the every day person. The antithesis of this, and it might help answer the OP’s question of why Ford doesn’t reach out to the first 15,000 timestamps, is that you’re not that important dude. Take the timestamp, roll it up and smoke it. Everything is conjecture at this point, might as well enjoy the ride.

Right there with ya. 2001 Tacoma here. I can’t wait to step fully into the 21st Century. As it is, I’m just dipping a toe.

A simple poll like this tells Ford how many of next year's orders fall into each trim level AND it tells Ford how many of each battery pack option they need to build.
Ford did send out just such survey which I responded to and I'm in the first 20,000 orders.

I'm in the first 20k and I didn't get one..
They likely only need a set sample size to give a good idea of the model, color, options choices. On the MachE, you ordered your car with the deposit so they knew what customers were ordering.

The same will happen here. However, they still have to plan pretty far in advance. With the. Bronco they underestimated the number of people who would order with a hard top and also with a manual transmission.
