Had XPEL Prime XR Tint installed and it’s a huge difference

After driving my new Lightning 2,900 miles across the country, I knew I had to upgrade the glass with serious heat and UV protection. Shout out to Tint World (Fremont, CA) for the awesome work installing the XPEL Prime XR Plus tint on all my glass. I went with 70% on the front window and 20% on the rest and looks and feels great!

XPel makes good products. I have their PPF on my truck.

Of course, window tinting is highly state-dependent, especially the front windshield.

Yeah I really wanted to do PPF as well but it’s just so expensive with the size of the Lightning. Also technically in CA I’m not supposed to have the 70% on the windshield or 20% on the front windows but in the past they have left me alone as long as it’s not so dark they can see me. I am risking a ticket though with those

Makes sense to tint when you're in a hot climate. I kept mine at the legal maximum. I had the dealer do mine before I got it, they made sure to mention 100 times that they couldn't go darker on the the front door windows than what's legal, a lot of people just take it to the tint shop for darker. Where I live, you probably won't get pulled over for it but if you got nabbed for something else it's low hanging fruit.

Yeah it’s an added risk for sure

In Miami I used to run 5% all around and 30% windshield with my ICE F150. No one batted an eye. Miami is hot 24/7/365.

Did you tint the sunroof?

I did yeah even though there is a retractable cover between it and the cabin, I wanted to keep as much of the heat out as possible.

Yeah, you can definitely feel it on those extra sunny hot and humid days!!! We have already hit 100°F or pretty darn close in Texas in the last week, or so
