how to overcome "unable to connect to vehical"

i have searched the forum and i am not finding a solution to this exact issue. i am using the latest FORScan (v2.3.54) with an OBDlink EX adapter. i am trying to interface with a 2023 XLT 311a

it looks like the program can see the car, but i keep getting the prompt that the program is "unable to connect to vehical"

i tried to instal a new driver for the adapter, but that didnt change anything. what ideas do y'all have?

I had this error a couple times. It resolved by unplugging and replugging the usb side of the OBDlink. I kept trying the vehicle side. But for some reason the usb did jt.
