I already have solar panels and two powerwalls. Any idea what additional equipment I will need to allow it to charge my house?

Does your installed system have a connection for a backup generator to charge the powerwall if the solar isn't operating?

No. Are you saying the car would have to charge the powerwalls?

Do you have a transfer switch - auto or manual on your home electrical box ?

No. You don't need a generator to charge the powerwalls as long as you have commercial power or solar power available. Some solar\battery systems, though, have a generator input in case of extended power outages. If you had the generator option installed as a part of your original solar\battery installation, you should be able to connect your Lightning's pro power output to that generator input to provide power to recharge the powerwalls during an extended power outage - for very little additional cost.

Depending on the load on your powerwalls, the Lightning's added battery would likely extend your battery-only house power backup from a day or so to a week or more. If the sun is available during the day to recharge the Powerwall and the Lightning, then you could likely operate free of the grid for a very long time.

Having the lightning feed the powerwalls rather than the house directly would probably be the easiest solution. I think the powerwall/solar/house system already has 3 way transfer capability, something that is missing from the lightning/solar/house integration. You can't charge the lightning from solar while powering the house, but I think you can charge powerwalls from solar while powering the house.

I am trying to figure out what to tell my electrician to accomplish this. Is it as simple as installing a manual transfer switch with a floating neutral? is there a link to a switch that would work?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
