Thanks for checking this out. It appears to be several (maybe 8) plastic clips. I damaged one trying to remove them so I'm reluctant to get too aggressive and end up with a broken moulding piece on top of a broken light bar. I'll try to play with is some more - just wanted to be sure I was missing something obvious in the WSM.

Hi All. New to the forum and posting in general. I need to replace my rear light bar (2024 model not covered under recall). I the lightbar instructions are easy to find. I can't though find a video or the instructions to remove the "tailgate molding" that covers the top part of the light bar. See attached. I'm looking for instructions from the Workshop Manual , a video, pictures etc. on how to remove the clips/piece. Don't want to create a bigger issue than I currently have.

I have looked at that cover and the snaps that hold it onto the tailgate and cannot see a way to release those snaps. Maybe there is a special tool. They might release if enough pressure is used but they might break as well. I would like to know a good method to remove it. Probably will need to in the future.

I just replaced mine. 22 platinum. I took the large black plastic interior cover off the tailgate. Then I opened the step. There are 2 10mm nuts holding the white trim piece on. After those were removed I just worked it off with a trim tool and pulling. There is a harness with two clips for the button. That will expose 6 philips screws for the light bar. 4 small nuts on the inside where you removed the larger black plastic interior cover. One push tab. Disconnect the harness and it’s out.

Did your truck pass the recall inspection? Just curious why you had to replace it. Your truck fell under the recall build dates.
I honestly don’t know much about the rear light recall. I saw some notifications about it but the app always told me parts were not available. Either way, it definitely had issues due to moisture but mine had a crack in it which was probably my fault from something so I figured they would complain about that. I bought a scratched up used one on eBay for like $180 and buffed it out and slapped it on. For $180 I didn’t care to bother with the dealer.

The condition of the bar doesn't matter for the recall. It's the way it's mounted. If it is mounted with screws, you get a new bar.

If you mounted your replacement with screws, you may have problems in the future.

Yea it was the same style with the screws. Of course I check the Ford app today and they have the parts available now so I guess that was a waste. Oh well, maybe I’ll put the broken one back on and keep this as a spare.

That's what I would do. Then you will have the correct mounting hardware.
