Hey everyone,

I'm looking to lower my 2023 F-150 Lightning ER Lariat in Rapid Red. I’d really like to get rid of that boaty feel, especially since I don’t plan on taking the truck off-road. My goal is to give it more of a traditional ICE Lightning street stance.

I’d love to see some examples of lowered Rapid Red Lightnings if anyone’s willing to share. It would be super helpful if you could post pics and include the following details:

  • Wheel size / offset / make & model
  • Tire size / make & model
  • Lowering kit used (2:4, 3:5, or custom drop?)
  • How many miles have you driven on this setup?
  • How does it ride now compared to stock?
  • Would you go with the same setup again?

I'm planning to get the work done this summer, so once I have a solid direction I’ll post updates on the route I take. Big thanks in advance for the help and ideas!

I don’t have anything to add other than if you replace just your front shocks with aftermarkets like Eibachs or Bilsteins, it will remove the boaty feel and stiffen it up a bit. I did it to mine and even though it’s a bit stiffer, I prefer it over the “I feel like I’m driving a crown vic boat” ride.

Thanks for the feedback! 🙏

I’ve been debating suspension options for my Lightning and initially considered running Bilstein 5100 or 6112 up front. But ultimately, I’m looking to lower the entire truckabout 2" in the front and 4" in the rear, ideally with camber adjustability built in.

Right now, I’m leaning toward a hybrid Ridetech setup:

  • Front: Ridetech kit designed for the Gen 14 ICE F-150
  • Rear: The front kit from an 11th Gen (2004–2008) F-150, as mentioned in post #19 of this thread

I know it’s a bit of a mash-up, but the goal is to get the stance and handling dialed in without sacrificing too much ride quality. I've heard good ride tech reviews from ICE F-150 owners.
