Yesterday I noticed that the plastic trim piece between the bumper and front quarter panels doesn't quite match. After looking at it more closely it has me wondering if they used an AMB trim piece by accident. I just noticed it after a couple of weeks so it's not obvious in passing but I got it in just the right light yesterday and now it seems obvious. There's clearly less of the gray in the blue. I'd be curious to hear from other SQM owners if they notice this.

Sorry, not the best pic but you can see what I'm talking about.

I have noticed color differences in the plastic bumper covers on various Ford products over the years - especially with my 2014 Ford Explorer that was a light blue color.

Based on the picture, that looks like AMB to me, it's definitely "bluer". Question is how did everyone not see that with the truck being in a bunch of different places with a bunch of different lighting conditions?

That’s what i was wondering about, too. Sometimes plastic painted pieces don’t look exactly like metal painted pieces. Obviously they happen at different times with different paint. I guess i should look at the other options plastic painted pieces for comparison.

It looks AMB to me. It might have some type of label one the back. Maybe your dealer can pop it off to check.

This is the reason I didn't get a Star White Lightning. I love the color on our Edge but you can definitely tell there is a color difference on the painted plastic pieces.

It happens. I remember when the 2015's launched and somebody posted a picture with Guard fender flares on a black truck.

The AMB truck built before or after yours probably has the Smoked Quartz piece. Whomever did the sequencing on them mixed the order up.

Different issue, same piece. Mine is VERY poorly aligned. Passenger side is popped out a bit, driver side seems indented in. Also notified dealer for repair/replacement.

Plastic bumpers usually don’t match the adjacent metal panels. But that looks AMB in this pic lol.

They sometimes don’t. I have had the same problem on my Volvo and my Suburban. Irritating I know. Interestingly enough, did not have that issue on any of my Fusions.

This has me wondering what exactly their quality procedure is for this step in the process. It seems clear it's some type of visual inspection booth but why wouldn't you pick up something that's literally the wrong color?
