I have a 2-channel Viofo. Main camera was a no brainer, I used a mirror plug, quick and easy, no need to run anything behind trims and pannels.
I started setting up my rear camera, took the rear door seal off and wanted to simply tuck the USB cable in the ceiling, but then I saw the airbag/s running along the vehicle and they are attached to the roof, so there is no way to bring the cable behind the airbag without taking the ceiling off, which of course I am not going to do.
Nor am I going to put anything in front of any airbag.

My quesiton is - did anyone run a rear camera cable up to the front and have some suggestion or input as to how/where to run it without taking the entire vehicle apart?

Thanks,

I ran mine down the passenger side of the truck below the door sill trims. I removed the two sill plates and the passenger footwell cover. That gives you enough access to run the wire all the way down to behind the rear passenger seat.

BTW - found an excellent video for wiring rear-facing dash cam without interfering with the airbags. Very detailed.

Why bother running a cable. I simply installed a 2nd rear camera.

Which is operated by a battery, or USB cable?! ?
I have a 12v via cigarette connector version. There are USB versions out there. Trick is aim the camera towards the tailgate, add spacers if you are mounting on the glass.

For my rear camera I ran the cord along the interior/molding along the driver side. Mounted the camera on the drivers side rear glass, so the auto opening window doesn’t hit the camera.
Required zero removing of trim pieces. I was able to feed the wire into the door molding with just my finger.

Right, and where are you getting your 12v for the camera from?

That means that your wire is in front of your air bags, not behind it. This could potentially interfear with your air bag.

OK, so did you not run a cable from the rear camera? You still needed to run a cable, at least to the rear cigarette socket.
I have 2 units. Rear camera is independent from front camera.
