I can post interior photos later. My favorite function for flated air topper has been providing covered area for my short haired pointer after his daily field runs. Now he can traverse whatever terrain his nose leads him to and jumps into bed for a nap in any weather. Before getting lightning and air topper, I would limit his play in water a lot to avoid stinking up my Lr3 interior. If he gets way too wild in the mud, I can take off topper and wash down bed. Fits my on the go lifestyle so I think it depends on intended finstion for canopy. It’s definitely not as secure as something lockable.

Yes, I got a Bison tonneau cover. Thanks for the suggestion on the outdoor garage tent, but we get some pretty strong wind storms here, which would land one of those on our neighbour’s roof!
Some car tents are pretty heavy and can be staked down as well, although a hurricane or tornado would send them sailing.

I had one in my driveway for many years when the County and some busy body neighbor had an issue with my old Peugeot "parts car" being unsightly even when covered by a regular car cover - "inoperable motor vehicles" have to be completely hidden, no tires showing even, OMG - beauty is in the eye of the beholder, alas.

Anyway it held up to wind rain sleet hail and snow very well...

Pretty hefty frame...

1967 Peugeot 403, gone but not forgotten.

Anyway I got the tent from a company on-line, it's a Shelter Logic branded tent, for $620 shipping included in 1997, sold it on Craig's List for $350 in 2008. The color had faded a bit in places but no tearing or other damage.

Just an idea.

Some people DIY them with PVC and tarps (you tube videos, etc.) if you want something lighter, cheaper, and that is easy to uninstall,

I bought a cheap cover to use for a few months until a carport is done. It helps keep the truck clean in a dusty and foggy area, and keeping UV off all the black plastic parts surely helps. It was necessary to make something that fits on the bed like a tonneau cover, preventing a swimming pool from forming every time it rains. Just for the heck of it, I added a charging port flap and mesh panel for the air inlet so there's no concern when charging with the cover on.

A bit of hassle to put on and off, but it has held up fine for about 6 months and several mild to moderate storms so far. I think a cover can be worthwhile for an infrequently driven truck.

The cover was advertised as "10 layer." Inspection shows two layers.

Your Peugeot was looking mighty fine!
Thanks for the suggestion about the cover, seems like a possible alternative.

Nice - thanks for sharing the pix. I guess "10 layer" is marketing speak for 2 layers. But I like your inventiveness with the charge port.

I don't have a garage big enough for my Lightning and would like to use a truck cover to protect it. I've read some reviews of covers that did not last long and leaked. Does anyone have good/bad experiences with a truck cover? Or is it better to skip the cover and just leave it out in the elements?
