My truck was approaching it's three year anniversary and still no Bluecruise 1.4. Feeling neglected and sad I decided, "I'll be damned if I am paying for 1.0, and probably not 1.4."
So naturally, on the three year anniversary of my truck, aka the day my free access expired, Ford upgrades me to 1.4.
WooHoo, and Darn at the same time. I decided I would try it out for the day, then call Ford and ask for a trial period before buying it.
But I couldn't get Bluecruise to engage even though I was on the interstate where I routinely engaged 1.4.
Called Ford for troubleshooting -- their troubleshooting found it was a BCM problem and I needed to take it to my dealer with the job number they provided.
"Well," I replied. "My trial will be over by then, so can you extend it until this problem is resolved, plus time to see if I want to pay for it." My 'concierge' agreed that was reasonable. I woke up the next morning with an email confirming a year long free trial of Bluecruise.
Now I just have to get it working. Driving on I-285 to my dealership appt for them to check the BCM, and I decided to try it on more time, but this time with my seatbelt on. Miracle - My Blue Cruise 1.4 works when I put my seatbelt on.
Did I mention I wasn't wearing my seatbelt when troubleshooting with Ford.
Moral to the story. Be stupid and and you might get rewarded with a free year of Bluecruise.
