First time towing my travel trailer with the F150 lightning flash when I stopped to check in at the campground and came back to the truck I tried to turn it on, and I got the message trailer battery, not charging. It would not allow me to turn on the truck, I couldn’t move at all. So I unplugged the trailer from the truck and I had to wait maybe five minutes six minutes, maybe 10 minutes and then turn the truck off turned it back on and I was able to pull the trailer. Luckily some trailers will lock the wheels if you’re not plugged in but on this particular trailer, I was able to pull It. Just wondering if anybody else has seen that issue before where the truck would not power on after getting this message.

I get this message plugging my racing trailer in as well, but it hasn’t prevented me from pulling the trailer. And since it didn’t block me I never researched how to overcome it. I am new to trailering and noticed on the trailer side there is a small 6”x3”x3” box attached with batter in it that has wiring diagram of the 20’ trailer’s frame. Additionally my emergency e-break grenade pin device is wired this small battery too.
is it fair to think when trailer is plugged into trailer, that this small trailer battery is supposed to be trickle charged during towing trips?
