Previous reports suggested that the transition to android OS was happening for 2023 Lightning. I supposed that it would also happen for the ICE versions, but all the news from the dealerships look like there is no OS change for the ICE. Anyone have any insider info on if this is actually happening?

Back in April Farley started that Android Automotive had been delayed to 2023 models. Unless things have changed again, it should be coming to the 2023 Lightning. I've seen a couple of articles that state that it is coming, but none of them that I would call concrete evidence. It's too bad they won't bring it to 2022s, I really wanted it on my 2022 Lightning.

It will be interesting to see just how much of the experience actually changes. Is it just a replacement of the underlying OS with the existing SYNC UX code on top, like many Android phones do with their UX vs. core? Or is it a full replacement with a brand new user experience?

I haven't seen any articles that were any more in-depth than "Android Automotive is coming to Ford in 2023".

There are aftermarket upgrades for Ford F150s to go from Sync 2 to Sync 3, or even to go from 8" to 12"...

I wonder if we'll get something like that down the line to get onto Android Automotive.

It "might" be a nice-to-have, but certainly not a game changer for the Truck. They only key benefit to me would be getting route planning natively within Google Maps... but I'm not even sure that's good...

Polestar does run Android Automotive, and their first third party app they announced was... ABRP...

Sounds like we are in the same boat so far. Hopefully we will learn more next week!
