This fell out of my power tailgate

Any clue what it is anybody? The above picture shows something still in there, the below picture shows what fell out. It’s the hole in the tailgate bottom just above the the spot for the spare tire lock

Not sure, but the same part fell out of my tailgate last summer around the same time I heard a loud popping noise and it failed to close. It's worked more or less fine since then though so I've pretended nothing ever happened.?

Thanks for the reply. It’s quite a flimsy piece of plastic so I’m guessing it’s not usually load bearing.
