In my experience, as long as you leave sufficient distance in front, you can use 1PD and come to a complete stop without ever touching the brake pedal and no friction brakes are ever used.
After a couple months in Feb-March (snow and salted road season) I noticed the rotors were not staying clean, since the pads had never touched them.
This lead me to do reading here on the forum and the new habit of shifting to N at Hwy speed and slowing with the friction brakes once a week. So the brakes do some exercise - stay available to work if needed, and clean off the rotors once in a while.
Seems to be working so far.

I believe this about the brake dust. When I swapped my wheels for winter wheels last time I was expecting my hands to be covered in brake dust as usual. But there was ZERO. It was like the wheels were brand new day 1. Very shocked to see that.

Every time I see someone claim that 1 PD is required to get max regen, I get an eye twitch. Please stop it and research the blended braking for this truck.

Brake dust may seem innocuous, but it is a significant source of airborne particulate pollution and can be harmful to lungs when inhaled.

Of course microplastics from tires are also a significant pollution problem.

Overall EVs produce less non-tailpipe emissions than ICE vehicles if at least 15% of driving occurs in slow traffic / city driving conditions, according to this study:

There are always trade-offs with any human activity. When everyone used horses for transportation, there were deadly consequences (diseases) due to the "tail-pipe" pollution they left on city streets!

But as EVs become lighter with newer battery technology, etc., the tire wear factor should be reduced for EVs.

Funny how people assume EVs are cleaner because they aren't putting the fossil fuel nozzle into their vehicle directly, forgetting all along that they're still putting fossil fuels into their vehicle.

Anyhow, I drive a lot of hilly, curvy roads here in Kentucky. And while the regenerative braking DOES help slow the truck down at times, I don't find that it's significantly more than the gas and diesel trucks I've had. Those also had great engine braking. So.. I don't find that I'm "off the brake pedal" more with this truck really, and therefore I don't understand how the brake pads are going to last twice as long or produce "80% less dust".

But, we'll see. It's only got 700 miles on it.

Things to know since you don’t have a lot of miles yet.

1) don’t run in calm screen and you’ll see a power meter on the left side of the cluster.

2) Blue on the cluster in the power area is energy out of the pack, and you’ll see it modulate with pedal position

3) green in the power area means energy into the pack, and you’ll see this change with speed and pedal position.

4) Letting off the pedal at more than 15 or so will show a Small green bar showing that you’re slightly regen braking.

5) Light to moderate brake pedal pressure at speed with grow the green bar up to a point, showing increased regen.

6) maximum regen bar size Will decrease with speed reduction.

7) turning on brake coach can show you how well you’re regenerative braking

8) you’ll always get physical brakes when coming to a stop when under 5mph approximately, you should feel them gently kick in

When I had a nail in my rear tire 1 month ago..8000 miles. The rotors looked brand new. No brake dust on the inner side of the wheel. Although they wanted to align my wheels , said the tire was not wearing evenly..I called BS on it.

With the window down, you can also hear them. There's a tiny whir sound when they kick in. I think that's also when the Brake Coach will display the score.

That's subjective. How much is most? if you want proof then we need to define an objective target. I don't want to waste our time with a "he said, she said" spat over numbers with no context.

If it's not subjective, then please explain to me how you compute "most possible". If you want me to cross the finish line, then I need to know where it is. What metric would you like to see? I've got an OBDII reader and can capture/record values to plot and share.

It depends more on the driver than the drive mode. The only exception to that, in my opinion, is when it is very hot outside. Sport mode will engage the cooling for the battery if it gets hot, which will use some amount of extra energy. Hard to say how much that will impact efficiency, but I did notice lower efficiency when I ran Sport in the middle of summer with 100-110F temps.

lol, not turning it around...but I don't want to waste my time if you are just going to complain about what I post being inaccurate, or not the right data, or whatever excuse is convenient. Give me test parameters that prove it to you and I will gather the data.

Here's something else to consider, I don't use 1 PD and have very little experience with it. If I collect data using 1 PD it is likely not going to be optimal. That could skew the comparison for whatever test is conducted. Are you willing to accept that? What is an acceptable solution to satisfy your need for proof?
