Rear Camera Fails

Does anyone else ever experience the rear camera failing to activate when you shift to reverse? From time to time I will turn the truck and and slap it in reverse and the OS is either too busy figuring itself out or something has it jammed up. Often it will finally kick in once I am already moving forward.

Seems like a very prominent safety issue for @Ford Motor Company, one that I have seen recalls for on other vehicles.

Unplug the nintendo and plug it back in, if that doesn't work, take the cartridge out and blow on it.

Edit: In case it wasn't clear, disconnect the 12v for a few minutes and reconnect, won't hurt, may help.

Yes have been experiencing very same issue but also get message “Camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership.” Haven’t determined if due to shifter interlock, extreme cold, or as indicated slow boot up of the OS/display. Definitely intermittent issue but more frequent last two months and planning to have dealer check soon at my 70k service. Probably won’t happen for them though.

put in a report on the NHTSA website. There are several vehicles with rear camera issues and this is a safety standard issue that could cause a recall. You should also contact your service department if this persists as the OEMs look at warranty claims as well.

Take a pic when the issue happens with the days newspaper showing the date every time it happens so you have documentation.
