The regular MX4 isn't going away, they just came up with the EZ lift because of community feedback.
As far as speculation for why they run sales and when, we're in the same boat because I haven't figured it out either. LOL

Quick update for everyone following the MX4 EZ-Lift launch:

We’ve been informed that the first shipment timing has moved slightly, and initial orders are now expected to begin shipping June 1.

Just ordered two BAKflip MX4 covers, one for the Lightening and another one for the Maverick. No T-slots on the new version was a deal breaker for me. Didn't see a value in missing out on the current sale for the current version. I do like the new setup but missing the mounts for the racks unfortunately. I want the racks to carry gear like fishing rods and lumber on occasion. I am looking for advise on T-slot rack systems.
