I did 5075 miles from western NC to LA and back along the southwestern part of Route 66 in March. Took me 13 days, had my son with me for the west to east part of 66. Did the Chicago to Amarillo part with him last year. Fun trips, great memories and no charging or truck issues.
Forgot to mention...
What I'm waiting for is the ability to change to a voice that you really want. Like Mr. T giving you directions: "I pity da poor fool that don't take the next left!"
I have found that Pilot and Flying J stations along the interstates often have GM Branded drive through chargers. They are all pretty fast, at least the ones I came across on my 5075 mile trip from Western NC to LAX and back. They have plenty of room to pull in with a trailer. I even saw a...
Through the years it has saved me a bunch of money. I suspect other tire dealers, at least national chains would have to honor it especially since it's a selling point.
One thing that I pay attention to is the tread wear warranty on a new set of tires. Because I have my tires rotated at Discount Tire every 5K, they have a record that I have been properly taking care of them. If they recommend new tires due to wear, I have them check the total amount driven...
If you live in areas where the roads twist a lot as I do in WNC, I would think that the turning tires would wear slightly faster. Perhaps not enough to notice but, since discount tire is happy to rotate them for free, I do it.
I will be doing this mod after my dealer gets the parts from FORD so they can replace the lightbar a second time. Weird things that have happened since the tail light bar went out the second time. When I put on the turn signal, both the rear tail lights "hazzard flash" instead of the single turn...
Well, crap. I forgot about the FIXD thingy I had plugged in to the OBD! That may be it. More likely than an unused USB cable that draws no power when the truck is off!
This message came up in the app and then the next time I started the truck. Hasn't shown up again. The only aftermarket thing I have plugged in is an USB cable in the center console. My truck (Rocket) is a 23 Lariat and I have always had a cable plugged in there. Has anyone else seen anything...
Last year, my son and I did the first half of Route 66, from Chicago to Amarillo TX. I flew him from his home in Northwestern SC to Chicago and I drove up to meet him at the airport from Western Noth Carolina. We drove from Chicago, through Springfield, St. Louis, Missouri, through a small bit...
Agreed that you can't really make a brick aerodynamic. But IMHO, what ever small loss or gain you would have having a "closed" bed verses an open one is less important than the terrain and/or headwind/tailwind and speed.
