You certainly don’t need to follow any PM if you don’t want to. The PM list for a Lightning is vanishingly small compared to a standard F150. You don’t have to change your oil on your ICE vehicle either if you’re planning to get rid of it with less than 30k miles or you can charge your EV to 100% and run it down to 0 every day. However, if you want a vehicle to run optimally and last for years, it’s a good idea to follow the advice given in the owner’s manual.

Normally I would agree with you. I think the discussion here is trying to get at whether tire rotation provides some benefit, or is it perhaps a holdover from other vehicles that wear their tires differently. In my case where all 4 tires have the exact same amount of tread, I'm not seeing what the benefit would be.

I take the truck in every 10k and the guys look it over and rotate the tires. It only cost me about $30 for all that. In my powerboost that had the same hankooks they last well into the 50k range so I don’t think rotating is a bad idea.

One thing that I pay attention to is the tread wear warranty on a new set of tires. Because I have my tires rotated at Discount Tire every 5K, they have a record that I have been properly taking care of them. If they recommend new tires due to wear, I have them check the total amount driven versus the manufacturer's warranty. If the tires are warrantied for 50k and they recommend replacement at 40k, thats 20% difference. They apply that 20% of the first sets cost to the cost of the next set I buy, regardless of the manufacturer. They seem happy to do this I suspect because it's the manufacturers that pay it, not them.
