You bring up a lot of points that echo my own opinions. But I will say after two summers of cross country roadrtrip camper towing, I still prefer the instant torque and control as well as fade-resistance in the form of regen for breaking when descending grades. So for my use case a EREV would...
UPDATE:
Finally after much delay, part one of my 2025 Summer Road trip series is up! Check it out below! And feel free to leave me any comments or questions!
Well there was only one instance where an Electrify America station I'd planned on stopping at in Colorado was entirely dead. Every dispenser was offline or would fail to initiate. Fortunately, I always plan a healthy buffer into every stop so I just drove to the next closest station.
The...
Thank you so much for this post! And also thank you yo being committed to giving us the info to implement this safely ourselves.🙏 There have been past forum members who have also devised systems for charging while in motion, and have frustratingly gatekept the info.
I look forward to your...
2025 Update
I haven't had any major issues with the battery pack since and battery SOH (State of Health) is still sitting at 100%! I'm back at my friends' place in Washington and made it here much faster with much more DC charging and less AC charging.
First thing I'd try is a 12V reset. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and leave it disconnected for 10 minutes. Reconnect. Unless it's a more serious problem, that should fix any issues!
TL;DR: I still took my Lightning. New vehicle wasn't ready yet due to paperwork issues. Despite the limitations, due to several factors, made way better time this time. YouTube video will be coming soon. Some pictures posted below!
Those who have interacted with me in other threads may have...
"Can" and "should" are two very different things. Just look up @MickeyAO 's post history to see his expert insight on the particular cells in Lightning packs. In simple terms, they don't do well with deep cycling and large SOC deltas.
Sometimes this is unavoidable, hell I've had my own...
See that's what I'm missing on my truck! I had all the glass (all four windows and rear glass including sliding panel) done last year with a clear (70%) ceramic tint to cut down on UV and infrared to keep the cab cooler. But I totally forgot about the moonroof and once you have all the other...

Battery Age: 34.37 months
Battery module voltage variation: 0.01V
Battery module SOC variation: 0.28%

That was my first thought as well. If the tailgate was up, no way the officer saw the backup light activating on the tail light. Has to be the lightbar.
UPDATE 3:
Well after further investigation in an attempt to find an easy way to swap the driver's side pinch sensor (spoiler alert: there isn't one, still gonna have to drop the fender liner) the trunk began working again after I messed with then sensor. So I immediately got the scanner out to...
You know, the picture isn't super clear, but it almost looks like there's a crack in that left hand tail light housing. If so, that'd explain the water ingress on that side.
