Just posting for the benefit of the community, I signed yesterday on a 2025 XLT for 285/month w only first payment due at signing. Included a 2k Private Cash Offer, without that payment would have been ~370/month. 24 month lease and 10,500 miles annually.

That is a screaming good deal. If you factor in a generic number for even the modest fuel savings of say $60 / month you're effectively paying $225 /month for a fully capably F150.

Wow! Great deal.

In the past, I have frequently intended * to keep a new car forever, so leasing was not attractive. But now, I am expecting to trade this vehicle in three years, so the lease was appealing, particularly with the uncertainty re its value in three years, when I expect to either buy a skateboard truck or the EREV... or something from another brand. My hope is that in three years, I will buy a "lifer" with 400 mile range (but without the astronomical price of a GM truck).

* Good luck with that. I seem generally incapable of rational thought. I have flown airplanes that were 50 years old when I flew them, and they worked just fine. Why not maintain a car in the same way?

I do intend to keep for the life of the vehicle but the lease incentives were much better than the finance incentives. I can buy it out at a good pre-agreed price at the end or walk if there’s something else that fits my needs better.

I have to and maybe up to 60 or 70 years old. At least they flew just fine until I got out of them, after that I don't know. However I plan to keep my truck.

If I keep it 50 years then I'll be 123 years old which is probably long enough! :)

For those out in Hawaii, I'm sure 50 (or a 100) years from now it will still be sitting in someone's yard somewhere with all the others.

And the rest of you watch out, there are some airlines out there still flying 50 year old planes carrying passengers for hire.

This is incredible deal. Can I get it in California? I see $494/month at Ford website.

I picked up an XLT lease. I had PCO so total discount was around $23k. Lease payment was $390 including sales tax per month.

When I leased mine 5 months ago, the residual value was 50% of MSRP @ 48 months. That's not the worst I've seen on vehicles in my lifetime, but it's pretty rough. So the only way to get a low lease payment at that point is to 1) get a ton of rebates or 2) put down a ton of money. Generally it's not recommended to put money down on a lease because if something terrible happens you lose it all (leasing institution holds the title and all rights to the vehilcle). And the rebates as we all know are now gone. So, personally I wouldn't lease a Lightning at this point. But that's just me.

For what it's worth, today I was offered $46k for my Flash that came off the assembly line 6 months ago. That's $27k under MSRP in 6 months. Ouch. So if you do decide to lease anyhow, make sure you have every intention of keeping it the full term because getting out of the lease early will cost you a small fortune.
And ironically, my own advice came back to bite me.

As amazing as the Lightning is, and as many advantages as it's got, at the end of the day it's just not the ideal truck for my family. We do occasionally like to pull our camper more than 40 miles one-way from home. And the charging network just isn't growing fast enough. So, the inconvenience has caused us to not go camping. In fact, I told somebody the other day that we have tailored our lives around what the truck can do, instead of the truck serving our lives. On top of all that in less than a year I've had an expensive repair done (covered under warranty) and a safety recall that was fixed with an OTA software update that isn't exactly a satisfactory solution to me. Who knows what'll go wrong next. Those things left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

So, I decided to cut my losses and trade the truck off early to get back into a truck that will suit my needs best for many years to come. And so, last week I started my search, found some trucks that fit my desires, and talked to dealers about making a deal.

What I've discovered is that the enormous depreciation hasn't become the only obstacle. In addition to that, Ford Motor Company as well as my selling dealership are BOTH playing hardball and are intentionally making it very difficult to get correct payoff information. This isn't my first rodeo with leasing, I have leased many vehicles from three different brands with several different banks over the last 25 years. I don't think that ever in my life have I had as much trouble getting the necessary help and information to terminate a lease early. It is clear to me that Ford wants to make this as difficult for me as possible, and my dealer isn't helping any. And as if that wasn't enough, some dealers with the new trucks I want are acting very leery about taking an EV truck in on trade, because they are almost impossible to resell. One of these dealers had a Lightning a couple months ago, couldn't sell it regardless of how low they took the price, and finally sent it to auction just to get rid of it. One sales manager, who has 30 years in the business with the largest dealers in this area, said to me, "Taking your electric truck in on trade terrifies me." They just don't want them. So, going from the Lighting to something else has proven to be extremely painful.

I *think* I finally arrived at a deal on a perfect truck for my family Friday, and so this coming week I simply will be waiting to see if Ford accepts the payoff we are sending to them and agrees to consider the lease terminated. Fingers crossed.... If it does get finalized, this will certainly be my LAST lease with Ford Credit, and it might possibly be my last Ford vehicle. I've been a Ford guy for 47 years. This experience has really soured me. It is sad.

So again, if you lease a Lightning make absolutely sure beforehand that it'll serve you well for the entire duration of the contract. Getting out is a nightmare! They say "live and learn" and I have learned! @Ford Motor Company

These machines are most definitely not for everyone or use. I'm keeping mine until the wheels fall off, bolt em back on and go some more lol.

Good luck with your next machine.

I'd never consider buying a used rental car. Why? Because *I* have driven some of those rental cars.
“Don’t be gentle, it’s a rental” 🤣
