but the tilt / alarm sensor would be nice to have.
See the following thread for posts about installing the infrared sensor in the overhead console. Ignore my OP post in the thread about installing the shock/tilt sensor. To do it right, your front dash and SYNC screen would have to be removed and reinstalled. A Ford tech at my dealer strongly advised against doing that on an already assembled truck; he said the risk wasn't worth the benefit. The infrared sensor is relatively easy-peasy with the wires already running to the overhead console and a dummy plastic insert already in place, most likely, as many who opted to install the infrared intrusion sensor found: https://www.f150lightningforum.com/...imeter-plus-security-system.15665/post-453920

A heated steering wheel was standard on my 2012 Nissan Leaf. It would have been nice on my 2023 Lightning Pro. Now maybe I can upgrade and have it?

Yep. You can do it. It’s not really that hard. I did it on a 22 XLT I had. Was not even all that expensive.

Had the same feeling when I saw a video about how to change a dash board indicator light for the gas gauge in my 2001 Ford Ranger - OMG! How many Ford tech hours does it take to change a light bulb?

No more can you just reach up behind the dash from below and pop out a bulb...alas.
You and me both. I had to remove the whole gauge panel in my 2001 F150 which was just a big motherboard. They had a factory defect with a cold solder joint in one spot that wouldn't allow the odometer to show up all the time. I resoldered it and it has worked ever since. Never saw a recall on it but wasn't something hard to do, just time consuming opening up the dash. A day in my life I will never get back.

I read that thread. But speaking of the overhead console, is there a way I can add a usb-c receptacle to power my dash camera either powered on all the time or with the ignition? Also being used to vehicles with a real dome light that lights up the whole cab, is there any kind of aftermarket dome light that can be added to accomplish that. Thanks. I can start a new thread if it is important.

I see. It's a dongle that plugs into the main power wiring harness. Do you have it hanging our somewhere or run into the sunglass cavity?
I zip tied it to the mirror post, but you could also use double sided tape to attach it to the mirror or windshield.

Ok. Thanks. I see you are a college instructor in Western North Carolina. As a former resident at Fort Bragg in the early 70's, I have question for you.

Do you know where the state motto on your car tags, "First in Flight" came from?

That question leads to another question, who was really "First in Flight". The Wright Brothers first flight took place in Kitty Hawk, NC around 1903. However, there is debate with Ohio, the Wright Brother's home state, as they also claim to be "First in Flight".

Well.... no. I'm referring to the first reference I have found. Right now I can't find my copy of the book which is quite thick but I'd refer you to the Wartime Letters of Robert E. Lee. I forget if it's page 931 or 731 but in the fall/winter of 1864 he writes to Davis about needing more troops and states his displeasure with the quality of troops coming from Western North Carolina who run at the first sign of battle or words to that effect.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that.
I always like to kid people from North Carolina when I get the chance. Can't find my book and can't find that letter online right now.

edit. But I told that to someone one time and he come back with some historical tidbit earlier from the war of 1812 or the revolutionary war with the same effect.

Where did you get less expensive upgrade parts? Infotainment wants about $1k for theirs.

I bought all my stuff thru varsity ford parts. The wheel was Less than $200 and the sccm I can’t remember exactly how much but was not bad. Then I just ran my own wire for power and that was it. Other than quick programming in forscan. Now I did not change the HVAC module. I left that as is and use forscan to put a soft button on the screen for the heated wheel.

$200 plus the shipping. Just trying to recoup a bit (I probably have about $400 in to it).
If no one took you up on this offer I would buy them off of you.
