I have one complaint with the Lightning after our recent snow storm.

Its too stable. Or... in the snow, its so stable its not communicative.

With snow, slush, rain, and freezing water normally I can feel a difference in the vehicle when it transitions to a slippery surface. Its like they get up on their toes, or get light. The truck? Its just barrels through.

Hitting the highways back during the snow it was concerning, it felt like we couldn't fully judge the condition of the road. Or said another way, it felt so stable it seemed like you could go faster than you should.
Completely Concur. We got 10-12 inches in some places for a few days last winter (not normal in Arkansas) and it drove so well. Additionally, on the drive to and from work, which is about 30 min on a state highway, I pulled a Prius, and ICE F150(4wd) and a jeep cherokee (2wd, didn’t know it was a thing) out of whatever snowbank or ditch they were in. The thing was an absolute champ. Only real concern, yes I know it’s not the right thread was battery range and maintenance in more extreme cold for extended periods.

My Nokian Hakkapolita Winter tires were surprisingly quiet yesterday evening while driving across the spine of West Virginia in the wide-area snowstorm there. I could tell that I was driving on Winter tires by their grippiness and their stability much more than by their noise on the road.

Thanks for posting.

How's the noise with those tires? One of my favorite things about my truck is that it's quiet on the road.
The Toyo's are pretty quiet. Not as quiet as the stock HT's but very quiet for aggressive AT's

I’m about to take off the winter wheels/tires but I realized I may not have shared my setup. We had a good amount of snow this year in MA so I really got to try out these blizzaks on unpaved roads and wow. I used to have an Audi Quattro that was a beast in snow but the Lightning with snow tires is a whole different level. I drove through a foot of unplowed snow up hills like it was nothing.

I got a snow story to share:

Last winter I was driving on a "no winter maintenance" road which may or may not be drivable depending on the amount of snow. It was pretty early season so there was only a couple feet of snow and it had been driven on number of times so it was drivable but only just a double track.

There is one section of this road that is about a 100 ft uphill, but I wasn't too worried about it and just made sure I kept my momentum up and got to the top with no problem. The problem was that as I crested the hill (it was blind) there was someone headed right for me on the same double track.

There was no time to do anything other than swerve off the road into the deep powder to avoid the collision. As I got out there I was thinking I wasn't going to make it as I was literally off the road and sideways. All of the sudden, some sort of traction control kicked in and I started chewing my way back to the road (on stock tires even) and barely made it back to the double track.

The other dude kept driving on and didn't even stop to make sure I wasn't stuck.
