Fixed running boards V.S. electric running boards. Your choice?

I'm intrigued with electric running boards, but where I live we get snow and ice at least a few times every winter.

@Wolfbox how do the motors handle the boards being frozen by snow and ice? I'd worry the motors wouldn't hold up to it long term.

As you can see, our motor has a cover for each, which keeps dust and ice away.

Not convinced on powered running boards, especially for those like me who get thick ice, snow, slush, and salt that just gets everywhere in the winter. As much as I would love to go with powered boards, I just can't justify them when I know they're probably going to die in a couple years at the soonest. My father's 2017 has OEM powered boards that are siezed open now because the motors crapped out after a few winters. Having the fixed boards is just peace of mind.

That being said, seems like your system is fairly modular. Do you sell the motors, or any other spare parts, seprately? Your Canadian site doesn't seem to have much of a selection at the moment so I wasn't able to peek around. Is your system designed to be easy enough to swap parts out? Or you have a fairly robust warranty, given that you say that your seals keep dust and ice away, if they were to fail due to contaminant intrusion, would you honour a replacement on that part?

I have fixed boards on my '23 Lariat and am happy with them. Wife and I, both about 5'8", have no issues with their height, getting in and out. Don't place anything on the roof, so no need to go higher.

For some reason however, both my mother and MIL have the darnedest time getting in and out of the vehicle. Even with all the grab handles, running boards, etc. But maybe that is not as bad as it may seem.

We don't sell spare parts seperately. Currenty those mod parts are listed on our American site only. 5-year warranty is offered.

I'm torn on power boards now that I've had my truck for a few years.
Had they been available as a $300 option from the factory when I bought mine, I would have gotten them for sure.

Now I have a few "issues" that prevents me from jumping in.

1. The OEM fixed boards are slightly wider than the rest of the truck, so in tight spaces they serve as a good warning sound.

2. While the tucked up running boards looks nice, the exposed battery pack does not. You're trading one eyesore for another. I wish someone would make a "meatier" running board at a steeper angle (less flat) when collapsed so it still hid the battery (and no, the AMP XL boards with their Tupperware storage box just looks dumb)

3. Wiring... it is what it is I suppose, I just wish someone made a more OEM looking kit.
