Is there a way to check what Sync version you have? My truck hasn’t had an update since I got it a month ago but besides checking the software update tab I was just curious if there’s a way to see since these numbers in the About menu don’t seem to be correlated to 4.2.4 or whatever I’m on.
It is refreshing to see that Ford isn’t simply going to throw more batteries on trucks to try and improve range and focus on efficiency to help hit their targets. A lighter truck that doesn’t spin the electric meter for 20+ hours is certainly welcome. However its going to be a lot of squeezing...
I'm excited to see if the second gen Lightning can go toe to toe with the Cybertruck on price and specs. Once the Silverado and Ram REV hit volume production I think there's going to be a lot more competition, capability, and better values to be had in the coming years.
Looks like at least 150 2022s listed as new on cars.com so I assume those are not special order and are sitting there ready to go. Some may be sitting because of markups, but they are out there for people that call around and are willing to travel to get one sooner.
I do think the announcement...
Same - app update 4.27 completely broke the estimated completion time. It thinks I’m going to be able to go from 54% to 80% in an hour using a 6kW mobile cord ?
Wasn’t Tesla supposed to come out with a feature where your Tesla EV charger could communicate with your powerwall and solar array to essentially dump the excess solar into your EV after the powerwall is charged, to minimize the amount of power flowing too/from the grid?
I have 1:1 net...
I just turned off P+C so I can activate EA chargers the way EA wants them activated - post plug in. Too bad Ford can't integrate EA subscriptions into P+C because it seemed to work great during the 250 kWh trial. And if you are charging an ER Lightning you can save over $10 per session with...
Not necessarily, there is a fixed loss component related to keeping the truck "awake" to monitor the charging process.
Consider 120V outlet charging, which pulls 1,200 Watts from the wall, and it takes 300 watts of power to keep the car BMS/charging circuits/modules/J1772 comms awake. You have...
Definitely interesting that there isn’t a sensor. If I was an engineer I’d probably put one on the coolant reservoir before the windshield wiper fluid reservoir, based on criticality.
That’s what my window sticker and fordpass app say - the trial expires on 2026. Might be different for people depending on what Fords policy was when their truck was built but I guess I have until 2026 to see how things shake out.
Doesn’t sound like some of the Mach E folks are in the same...
It’s especially wild because IMO BlueCruise in its current form is about the same capability or slightly below basic Tesla Autopilot. Major difference is Ford uses eye tracking and Tesla uses wheel pressure to gauge attentiveness. Basic Tesla Autopilot used to be a several thousand dollar add...
Yeah the Lightning still does long trips OK, I personally did fine with Electrify America network driving about 2200 miles in about three days. But when you are doing at least a dozen 10% -> 80% charges in such a short period, it does become noticeable that it takes the Lightning 35-40 minutes...
Other car is a Tesla Model 3.
I'm super happy with the Lightning so far as an around town vehicle. Build quality seems better, the Lightning is much quieter, smoother suspension, slightly faster accelerating, easier to get in and out of, comparably comfortable seats (especially the ventilated...
Gorilla “OEM” style acorn nuts are perfect if you want something that’s one piece and looks identical to the OEM ones with a large seating surface. Also are available in chrome. We will see how they do on rust long term.
I got the decals on Etsy. The exact ones I got aren’t available anymore but there seem to be several sellers that do dual color inserts if that’s the look you are going for. Mine are just a matte black with blue outline.
