Alright, I figured out what went wrong with the original adapters, the pinout was incorrect for using the same connectors on each side. I have a new schematic to correct the issue and will be sending them off in the next couple of days once I have time to review a couple more times to avoid...
Feedback was already ruled out by multiple people. Please read through the thread for previous troubleshooting. OBD power has no effect on the issue.
Bad news for the adapters, the first batch came in and 1 was DOA due to a shorted connector. The rest are crossed over when they shouldn't be...
All the adapters from the first order are reserved. I will order 20 more once the first batch is confirmed to be working as expected. I will post here once I put in the second order.
None of that would effect the reflection issues. The length of the connection is likely the cause. Trying to see if you would have any reason to have shorter can bus topology in your specific truck.
Do you have the ability to view the inventory of your trucks modules? Im not sure it will give me what im looking for. But curious to see what may be different from others.
Yeah, the issues are at startup while the comma unit is off or unplugged. You won't see issues while driving unless the unit crashes. But if you are not remote starting and still dont see the errors. That is a good thing.
Thats just the normal Q4 harness. The smaller cable is ideal to reduce stress on the comma units USB port against the windshield. But it will work the same with your setup.
If you unplug the cable from your comma unit and start the truck, does it not throw errors?
When you say you "didn't use the extension cable" are you talking about the long USB C cable? If so, how did you get the comma unit connected to the comma harness?
The issue has also been reported on all variants of the lightning. It's only been voiced twice that I know of where people have claimed to not have startup errors. Its not ideal to tell people it will work on a lot of lightings when there is no evidence of a resolution by comma. There will...
Sounds like you have it figured out.
Everyone reach out to Water Wiz if you experience Can bus errors. Sounds like we don't need need to finish our solution after all.
Final version of the PCB boards are on their way! PCBWAY sent the assembly pictures for approval and shipped them out yesterday. I am expected to have them June 26th. Here is a sneak peak for ya'll.
With the finalized adapter possibly 30+ days out - I can make a breakout board with more permanent resistors soldered into the board instead of jumpered so ya'll don't have to wait to get rid of the errors. DM me if you want one, they will be cheap since they are just a stop gap solution.
Another update on the PCB's, they have been in production with PCBway for about a week now. They are estimating 18 - 20 days for assembly to be completed. I will post again once I have them in my possession. I placed a smaller order after having issues with JLC, so I will have 4 available from...
Yeah, it was stupid mistake, I was too focused on the assembly portion I guess. I was just surprised at their unwillingness to help correct the issue even after I offered to pay for the production of the boards a second time. I'm just not willing to fork out all the extra they charged for...
Unfortunate update for the connectors. I had sent them to JLC PCB and missed setting the board thickness to the proper size. They are refusing to work with me on correcting it without sending in an entirely new order and paying for everything a second time (80% of the charges were assembly fee's...
For those waiting for an update, the PCB's are in production and should be completed on the 24th. I should have them next week.
Once they are tested, I can start shipping them to those that need one.
I will have 9 available and can order more if there is more demand than that.
They are the...
We have a PCB being built as a finalized prototype. I am sending it off to be assembled tonight, so we should have one in our hands soon.
The solution is a simple plug and play usb c connection that works with stock comma hardware. You can buy the normal Q4 harness.
